Rapid evolution of prehistoric dogs from wolves by natural and sexual selection emerges from an agent-based model | Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/...

Archaeologists 4 Future were at the unique (by Dutch standards) middle-Neolithic cist-grave at the Archeologisch Museum Stein (the steenkist van Stein). @prehistoryrmo.bsky.social for providing the contact person! What a beautiful exhibition it is! #neolithic #museum #archaeology #dutch #Limburg

Glad to have contributed for RMO on this nice piece on Doggerland by @hakaimagazine.com New research reveals that Doggerland—a sunken swath of Europe connecting Britain to the mainland—was more than a simple thoroughfare. It was home. hakaimagazine.com/features/con...

Cremation grave of a Roman soldier, featuring his graffiti name 'FLAC' inscribed on an Italian cup, dating back approximately 2,000 years. Discovered by ADC Archeoprojecten (where I work) in Heerlen (Coriovallum): www.l1nieuws.nl/entertainmen...

Analysing the Corded Ware Bell Beaker transition in the Western Netherlands in settlement context, it appears now there are many parallels to the Grooved Ware - BB transition in the UK: high mobility, little continuity in settlement and significant genetic change. Publication in the make.

Research on cremation graves (Early Medieval). Takes me back to Solleveld (The Hague), once considered an outlier with only cremation graves, but we also discovered inhumation graves there (in 2004). I first saw the great Colin #Renfrew as a student in 1999, during the yearly Kroonvoordracht in Amsterdam (And then once more during the TAG conference in Cardiff., and yes he was dancing) #radiocarbonrevolution #archaeology #prehistory: snmap.nl/wp-content/u...

Many of you will have heard of the sudden and sad loss of one of the foundation pillars of archaeology today. So much of our Heritage landscape was shaped by him. So let's take a moment to remember him, and what his legacy is. Colin Renfrew . 25th July 1937 - 24th Nov 2024
