Going to Costco is hilarious, because why is everyone buying 60 eggs??

@lionelhenry.bsky.social and I are so excited to finally announce Air - an extremely fast R code formatter! πŸŽ‰ With Air, you'll never need to worry about styling your #rstats code ever again. All you need to do is save, and Air takes care of the rest. www.tidyverse.org/blog/2025/02...

New #rstats pkg gander is now on CRAN! gander is a coding assistant that knows how describe the objects in your global R environment. So, when you're working with data, LLMs will know the names, types, and distributions of data columns, resulting in much more effective completions.

TIL that VS Code (and thus Positron) has a command to alphabetize selected lines with "Sort Lines Ascending"

i took a detour and wrote a little bit about using colors as predictors in Feature Engineering A-Z feaz-book.com/miscellaneou...

Discover posit::conf as an Opportunity Scholar! The deadline to apply is this Friday, February 21st. The program includes travel funds, accommodations, and registration. We shared reflections from a few of last year's Scholars: posit.co/blog/discove... Apply today! #PositConf2025 #RStats #Python

Finished drafting the section on Periodic features for Feature Engineering A-Z In many ways it is a simplification of how we can handle periodic effects in date times or time series contexts feaz-book.com/periodic

Which of these features would you like us to implement first in the nanoparquet R package? See options below. #RStats #parquet nanoparquet.r-lib.org

What's your sign?

Sneezing while driving is just as terrifying now, as it was when I started driving

no no we don't say "empty carbs" anymore. the preferred term is "emotional support carbs"

We are honored to hear @chelseaparlett.bsky.social talk about Marketing Mix Modeling next Thursday, if you are in the neighborhood i strongly encourage you to come by if it interests you www.meetup.com/socal-rug/ev...

There appears to be an inverse correlation between how long I procrastinate on a task, and how long it takes to perform

hi there friends 🌸 it’s @isabelizimm.bsky.social here hosting your weekly rocur!!! πŸ‘©πŸ»β€πŸ’» im a software engineer @ @posit.co where i work on the #positronIDE 🌴 live in florida, usa 🐢 my dog, toast, knows ~35 tricks 🫢 if i was on a deserted island and could only bring 1 data science tool, it’d be #quarto

Once again, you can change your Bluesky settings to remind you to use ALT text. There is literally no excuse.

Do Not Comply In Advance: bossy, already a cliche, implies permission to comply later Fuck You, Make Me: leads by example, directs yelling at opposition instead of allies, easy to chant at a protest or put on a banner

Don't want to see links to X on here? Go to Settings > Moderation > Muted words & tags and add "x.com" to mute forever. You can mute the word everywhere or choose to exclude posts from people you follow.

I've been hard at work updating our entire text rendering stack in #rstats. Read about the relevant improvements in systemfonts, textshaping, and marquee in this rundown. The tldr; is that marquee is now ready for primetime

I'm excited for us to have interns again! working with and seeing what they have done over the years is inspiring

louder for the people in the back!

It's impossible to overstate the difference a nice, small, reproducible example makes when you open an issue or a feature request. For me it is so often the difference between "πŸ’‘I can fix that right now" and "πŸ€” I'll have to come back to that later".

the magical thing about the drier lint trash can is that you never have to empty it. just push it down once a week

I'm thrilled to announce the release of orbital 0.3.0! This release adds support for classification models, hard class and probability predictions www.tidyverse.org/blog/2025/01... #rstats #tidymodels

I am using Positron every day and having a blast! Wrote up a small post outlining the key bindings I use and have created to make my life easier emilhvitfeldt.com/post/positro...

I'm with another Feature Engineering A-Z chapter! Dealing with circular/cyclical data using trigonometric functions feaz-book.com/circular-trig #rstats #python
