Tip for writers, especially academics . . .

Excited to share our infographic and social media toolkit based on our ( @sambedard.bsky.social @cherilev.bsky.social @uofleatlab.bsky.social & Project HEAL) recent paper on barriers to eating disorder treatment access! Check out the social media toolkit here: www.theprojectheal.org/reportedbarr...

We got new food dishes today

"Mental health patients harmed by being sent to units far from home, report finds." Comes shortly after a report about trauma caused to vulnerable patients by under-staffing. www.theguardian.com/society/2024...

Eating disorders research folks and folks interested in eating disorders research - please follow and/or join this starter pack! Thanks for helping us rebuild over here @joewonderlich.bsky.social!

Hello 🦋, it’s me, Emilie, a clinical psychology researcher at the University of New Brunswick (Eastern Canada) studying eating disorders & body image. Thought I’d (re)introduce myself. Here are some pics of our lab group, MEAL, at UNB. How cute are we?

I’m so happy to see more folks from the #EDresearch world moving over to blue sky :) Hopefully this little slice of our world will be less of a cesspool of nonsense and Musk-influence 🙃

Doughnut bowl from my first pottery class, fresh out the kiln!

Canadians! We have a new suicide crisis helpline. You dial 988. That's it! Spread the word. www.cbc.ca/news/health/...

Which light fixture do you like best here?

On World Mental Health Day, sharing Kerri’s horrifying story of trying to access eating disorders care for her child. There are many others just like it. Most people can’t leave New Brunswick to access this essential health care- we need specialized services here & now. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

I installed a light fixture today!!

This weekend I decided to stay home and putter around while partner visits family. On my to-do list: house projects, bookstore, go to the market, order takeout…What a treat!

the dumbest men on earth are fighting

Had my first proper on-camera media interview and I’m already catastrophizing potential headlines: “Poorly-Lit and Rambling Assistant Professor Sets Field Back Years and Does Immeasurable Harm by Misspeaking.” Any words of advice/other catastrophic headlines for me? 😅

Everyone who visits my office thinks I have a green thumb, but this is not the case. These are the 5 fittest plants that have survived years of my neglect where others perished, only to be brought into my office when I got a cat and realized every single one of them was super toxic.

Being on internship this year has only strengthened my belief x100 that it should be an optional, post-doc requirement. At least if we're keeping the same clinical hours requirements in grad school. The current system is simply *wild* and I can't believe it's been this way for so long!

Last night I was admiring the black beans of @trance.bsky.social's white cat Han, and ended up learning from commenters that toe beans are called "little pillows" in many other languages! If you speak a non-English language would you share the word(s) for a cat's toe pads and what it means?

On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, let’s recall the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action. These are some calls I find particularly relevant to post-secondary education and health. It’s been 8 years since these were released- how are we doing?

tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day (known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation for our northern relatives in Canada). it's a day to honor the children who never returned home from residential boarding schools. our family matriarch and my dear Grandma Myrtle is a boarding school survivor. 1/
