To state the obvious: It is hard to conduct effective foreign policy when being seen as too aligned with you represents a potential 25+ point electoral liability for prospective partners.

"[Women's oppression] is, like the exploitation of labour itself, a social structure which roots itself in and distorts a naturally given human capacity. It is not reducible to biology, but neither is it separable from biology." www.counterfire.org/article/marx...

Excellent post here from Suzi unpicking just how flimsy all the stuff about "UPFs" really is

"On the doorstep people don’t make a distinction between graduate visas & small boats" This is: a) objectively wrong (plenty of polling evidence) b) suggests utter contempt for electorate's thought processes c) is a dreadful way to make policy Otherwise fine www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

I think most people probably believe that abortion is legal in the UK; in fact it's only partially decriminalised, & British women have some of the most restricted abortion access in Europe. We need abortion fully legalised & access to it made a right, not a lottery.

Read this again & again “A U.S. citizen child suffering from a rare form of metastatic cancer was deported without medication or the ability to consult with their treating physicians–despite ICE being notified IN ADVANCE of the child’s urgent medical needs.” Depravity

‘People in the past were more comfortable with doubt, and we should be too. But I wonder if we can really imagine ourselves back into that older way of being a body.’ @erinmaglaque.bsky.social on the history of pregnancy and conception: www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

Some of you are completely losing the plot this morning. I repeat - the Supreme Court decision in the WFS case has absolutely nothing to do with the provision of toilets, a decision largely based on commercial factors. The law, rightly, is not over prescriptive in toilet provision. /1
