For a piece I'm working on reporting, if you're studying library science or are working in a library (especially if you're earlyish in your career), I'd love to speak about what you're hearing & experiencing right now. You can be anonymous. [email protected] or Signal rstauff.20

Gross. And unsurprising.

Serious question - why does apparently every snow storm have a name now? We had one named Blair and evidently one named Cora? I thought only tropical storms and hurricanes got names? @kyweather.bsky.social

I frequently use this quote in presentations that I deliver about school libraries and the work school librarians do to support teaching and learning in our buildings.

An end-of-year win for the freedom to read! A US District Court has declared portions of Arkansas Act 372 unconstitutional, a law that would have subjected librarians and booksellers to potential prosecution and severely limited readers’ access to books. www.ala.org/news/2024/12...

#TLSky best practices :) Welcome on in

You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

"Writing is a political instrument." - James Baldwin. Ellen Oh reminds us that books are powerful and can save democracy. Say NO to censorship! Thank you Ellen Oh for your advocacy and leadership in this fight - our kids do deserve their happily ever after! @ellenoh.bsky.social #ALAN #NCTE24

Good news! 💚 💗♫ #Wicked & hundreds of other titles are available as #UniteAgainstBookBans book résumés: free resources that detail a book's significance & educational value & help teachers, librarians, parents & community advocates keep books on library shelves. bookresumes.uniteagainstbookbans.org

Teacher & librarian friends! I'm working on this year's list of author volunteers who'll be offering Zoom read-alouds for World Read Aloud Day on 2/5/25! It should be ready in a couple of weeks - be sure to follow if you'd like access to the list & please share this post to let your colleagues know!

Just gotta say how refreshing it is that during my morning scroll that I found 3 things I wanted to like and share with others instead of 10 things that made me angry and want to burn the world down. This is why I used to like teacher/librarian Twitter.

Time for a book giveaway! If you'd like me to mail you an advance copy of my Apr. '25 MG novel in verse THE TROUBLE WITH HEROES, follow & share this post. Bonus entry if you also reply w/ a pic from a recent hike! I'll draw winners on 12/1. About the book: bookshop.org/p/books/the-... #edusky

Hello friendos It would be terrible if you told people about Books Unbanned, a program to get free library cards into the hands of teens and young adults anywhere in the country so they can access e-copies of frequently banned materials. Freedom to read. They can sign up here: booksunbanned.com

Join KASL for "Power Hour: Tech Tools Roundup" featuring Enid Wohlstein from KYVL. Learn about the latest tech tools and resources to enhance your library or classroom, connect with fellow librarians, and share your own favorite tech tool at the end of this informative session.

One of my all-time fave videos! 🤣

I don’t know about you, but this TOTALLY made my day brighter! www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

One of fascism's main tactics is to physically and mentally exhaust you. To flood the zone with outrageous bullshit, to make you bite on a dozen pump-fakes — so that when the real shot comes, you're too worn out to react. We need to pace ourselves. It's only been a week. Alert fatigue is dangerous

Glad to see so many folks I recognize from other places are here! And to say something about my #librarylife - I got to see students in 6 of my school’s 9 grades yesterday! At least things on the work front are trending positive at the moment!

Check it out! @themisterlibrary.bsky.social school librarian at J. F. Use "DEVELOPMENTALLY RELEVANT" rather than "age appropriate" when discussing whether a book should be available to students. Every student has different life experiences, matures at a different rate, has their own informational needs - none of these are bound by age. 1/

#truth I’m on fall break and these book banning fools messing with my library friends do not want to hear what I have to say about their ridiculous antics. I used to think this super cool Nine Inch Nails shirt was funny.

Any other librarians put series in order in other libraries when you visit as a patron? Can’t stop-Won’t stop…
