We have decided to create an account over here for those who are using this platform instead of (or as well as) X! Posts will continue to be made on both sites for now!

Save the School of Music protest. It's a very bittersweet feeling watching these incredible musicians play. This is the talent we will be losing if Cardiff University go ahead with their shortsighted plans.

📣📣Please share!📣📣 Join Mass Demo to Protest Proposed Axing of Cardiff University’s School of Music. Saturday 22 February 12 noon. Location: Cardiff University, Main Chemistry Building, Rear Entrance, Museum Avenue Details here: musiciansunion.org.uk/news/join-ma...

Two Weeks In The Death Spiral Of Cardiff University, by an anonymous academic. This is truly shocking read. The Cardiff executive board should hang their heads in shame. voice.cymru/two-weeks-in...

This offers us a helpful deadline as well, removing ourselves collectively from X. From the 21st of February, we'll be only here, but just as enthusiastic about #EarlyModern things ever, if not more. #SkyStorians

Fixing the automatic captions on a lecture and deeply resentful of its emphasis on where I sounded Too Australian for it to possibly transcribe things correctly.

I find myself pointing people to the talks from this (or a related?) project regularly, so am excited for the book! The talks: youtube.com/@familyarchi...

You are spared my terrible video, but shout out to the Cardiff University Music students bringing an instrumental protest to the cool night air as we leave work.

We are grateful for the more than 100 alumni who have submitted their experiences of Cardiff University School of Music. If you haven't so far, it's not too late as there is no deadline and the more the better. forms.gle/a6jPMu5H6KZ2...

I don't know about you but my anxiety insomnia is *fierce* at present. So, here is my plug for the Sleep Cove podcasts, the only thing getting me some rest. www.sleepcove.com

This LGBTQ+ history month, we wanted to share one of our team's favourite responses in the archive. In this directive response the writer, aged 24 and who identifies as a lesbian, tells the story of finding out that she has a great-aunt (72) who is also gay.

'Across 103 universities to have posted financial accounts so far this year with relevant figures, £210 million was spent on compensation for loss of office last year. This was a 67 per cent increase on...2022-23. The severance payments...affected about 10,300 employees'. 1/4

Publication day! *Literary Illusions* is finally out!

I should add for the medieval Wales crowd--I THINK this project may've turned up TWO 12thc Tintern Abbey books (incl the cover volume), and we've VERY few earlier medieval Welsh books and (until now) ZERO Tintern heyday books. No one had looked in Bristol for them before, apparently.

This is a sewing pattern. It is also a page from a late 14th century manuscript that is one of two primary sources for an important Icelandic saga (Sturlunga saga), but that was probably not important to the 17th century person who really needed a sewing pattern. #upcycling

Azim's project on Islam in Wales has been doing incredible work over the past few years (testament to the importance of the currently threatened humanities at Cardiff Uni) Join us online tomorrow to hear more!

The new school into which the remaining Humanities departments are to be merged is going to be the School of Global Humanities. Meanwhile, global languages will no longer be taught there.

Labour MPs who follow me on here — I know you’re there! — please do push for this change of 6 weeks pat leave at 90% of pay. And please also push for an increase in statutory maternity pay — to minimum wage! — and for pay to cover the full 12 months of leave.

The added insult in presenting the proposal to cut 120 FTE staff while merging History, Ancient History, Archaeology, Conservation, Religion, Modern Languages, English, Communications, Philosophy, and Welsh, is that it was only in questions that they revealed we only have c240 now.

[reposted] The storm has broken at Cardiff University. Solidarity to everyone who is going to be affected by leaving the university, or by remaining as part of a substantially weakened workforce. Please join a union.

ME: *writing in my journal with the sole aim of pissing off future historians and archaeologists* I returned to my home - which is built in the usual style - by the normal way, and prepared and ate dinner in the way I often but not always do

At this point there are over 40,000 signatures, so the government will have to respond to it, but if we can get it over 100,000 they will have to discuss it in parliament. Please keep signing & sharing 🙏
