I’ve finished two sweaters this week (!!!) - one from April 2024 that was put in time-out, and one from October 2024. I wish I wasn’t so slow, but I am super duper proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish! #knitsky

The erasure of the Jan. 6 records comes while the administration is also seeking to whitewash the teaching of U.S. history, threatening to withhold funds from schools that teach about America’s troubled history of racial and gender discrimination. By @alecmac.bsky.social

I don’t think arts institutions, art schools, universities, journalism schools, the NYT etc are fully reckoning with the scope of what’s happening here

No one in the arts should stand for this. If you’re on an NEA panel this year, it’s time to resign. If you’ve recently been awarded a grant, you should turn it down. And you should do it as publicly as possible.

Listen friends - gather your hope where you can. People showed up in all 50 states on a moments notice. Voicemail boxes of senators are filling up. Lawsuits are being filed. Look at all the good people. And do not forget to take care of yourselves. Seriously. This is a long haul.

I went to my Congressman's local office today. First off, they were surprised that I was there. They said they had been getting phone calls, but I was the first walk-in. That said, the phones were not ringing off the hook. If the DC phone lines are busy, try calling the local office.

Aliens (completely bewildered): so the groundhog Me: is clairvoyant, yes

reeeeeeally freakin surreal to be developing a play about taking down Nazis right now. (see: Hannie Schaft + the Oversteegen women / the Dutch Resistance)

Not only that, THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT. Overwhelming you shuts you down. It hurts your ability to resist. Take care of yourself. Focus on the topics you have capacity to. Listen to the people who help you think this through. Take breaks. Listen to your body. And find community. Most important.

excited to present at the digital LMDA Conference on Sunday! locking in to Google Slides 😤

@booker.senate.gov why can’t I leave a message or speak with anyone in your DC office? Your constituents need access to your ear!

#ICYMI: After years of heightened scrutiny by GOP lawmakers, NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases could be overhauled or effectively dismantled under the incoming Trump administration. By @annamaria.bsky.social

brown sugar French toast bread pudding! a perfect “waste-not” bake.

long after the rains have stopped Adrienne Rich

the beagle is seemingly aware the appropriate response to the events of this week is “thousand yard stare of general anxiety and malaise”

I’m trying really really fucking hard to not feel The Dread. and I feel like I’m losing. is there anything helping anyone??

Can a headline alone be eligible for a Pulitzer?

work in process in transit!

harder and harder to find proof that we are *not* in the worst timeline

as LA is burning, a swath of the country is recovering from an ice storm, Alabama is preparing for up to 6” of snow and I’m praying for the TX power grid, a reminder: we don’t need climate action just for future generations, we need it now. the climate crisis is here, all around us

I polished off a jar of cornichons in three days. delicious. a personal best. a cry for help?

loved seeing THE BRUTALIST in 70mm and in such a gorgeous venue!

yeahhhhhhhhh Severance really is worth the hype!

Bruce the Cat was in attendance as host at tonight’s soirée.

a salad with mini latke croutons is still a salad (shoutout to the Salad Lab Lady for putting us on this)

chickens for me and my sisters! 🐔 (totally did not make these over the last few weeks because I’m stuck in sleeve-land on two sweaters…)

my husband always makes me feel incredibly seen, but particularly this Christmas as I struggle with new family boundaries. I wish everyone love like this. ❤️🎄🕯️

Reminder that one of the most important times to wear a mask is right now during holiday season travel. Transits hubs are high risk as many people travel while they are sick. A high quality mask like an N95 will help protect you and help ensure you don't miss out on valuable time with loved ones.

playwrights: how do you digest feedback and questions into actual revisions? I feel like I know what needs to be done but then I open to script and am like 😀

I won the best raffle prize at my neighborhood association holiday party

Doctor: How are you? Me: I'm good. Doctor: What brings you here today? Me: I'm doing bad.

had the pleasure of working as the dramaturg on a commission for the last 9 months, last night we had a public reading + talkback! loved getting to develop a “true-story”piece weaving together baseball, post-Revolution Cubans, and NJ history. keep supporting #newplays and living artists! #dramaturgy

this week’s “What Did Emily Watch” Roundup is a…mix 😅: Conclave Godzilla Minus One Nutcrackers Blue Velvet The Yacht Rock Dockumentary How to Train Your Dragon Mermaids (the Cher one)

Ruth Wilson Gilmore's concept of "organized abandonment" is useful here: the intentional disinvestment and neglect which creates group-level vulnerability to premature death. Organized abandonment kills more people than interpersonal violence, and it's not even close. It's worse.

I’m about to receive my second treatment shot for my chronic illness and it makes me emotional every time… I wouldn’t have been able to get this years ago when I started having issues and it’s already helped so much. I’m just so grateful for modern medicine!!!

my secret gift exchange recipient from my fiber arts group wants sock yarn, but I’m not much of a sock knitter yet! any #knitters here want to recommend your favorite indie dyers who make good sock/fingering skeins? (bonus for Small Business Saturday sales!) #knitting #fiberarts
