Lovely visit to Lancs Wildlife Trust’s Brockholes reserve on way home from Wales. Small flock of curlew passed over.

Amazon buys Bond. Deep sigh, I’m a huge, life-long fan of the films ever since that skydive with 🇬🇧 parachute. Bond films have always reflected current times so maybe a soulless Bond with no style, wit or heart will be on message for Bezos, and just be another homogenous action movie.

Stunning in Snowdonia. Goldeneye on the water.

Beavers save Czech taxpayers £800m by flooding ex-army training site

We've tried to create a list of all the Wildlife Trusts we know are on Bluesky. If we've missed anyone, please shout! bsky.app/profile/did:...

Any digital comms people out there fancy a new challenge with me, helping to save Yorkshire’s wildlife? careers.ywt.org.uk/job/fb52c1d4...

Did a thing with the brilliant Hull Trains crew and the very lovely Jon Mitchell 🤩 www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/business/gol...

More homes for birds, butterflies and otters have been created at Staveley and Ripon City Wetland reserves, #Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (YWT) announces. #environment #wildlife open.substack.com/pub/thenorth...?

Bernie Sanders: "We are living in an unprecedented moment in American history. We are looking at a rapid growth of oligarchy. We are looking at a rapid growth of authoritarianism. And I fear we're looking at a rapid growth of kleptocracy as well."

It’s World Wetlands Day 🩵💙 Homes for wildlife, lovely to visit, great to look at and protect from flooding. www.ywt.org.uk/wetlands

Excellent piece on Channel 4 News about the new plans for a Land Use Framework. Great to see a spotlight on Essex Wildlife Trust defending nature - and a timely reminder of this country’s record on nature loss - some devastating stats…👇 www.channel4.com/news/farmlan...

Our political leaders are saying nature protections are blocking growth - when the truth is that nature underpins our economy. Good myth-buster here 👇 www.wildlifetrusts.org/blog/joe-kee...

Pet owners accidentally poisoning garden birds. Our latest research finds pet flea treatments (fipronil and imidacloprid) in 100% of blue tit and great tit nests, with nestling mortality higher in the more contaminated nest. @SongBirdSBS @SussexUni @CannelleTassin

“Over the past 50 years, there has been a drastic loss in the global wildlife population that will gradually get worse. Currently, an estimated 200 species have been lost in the UK.”

Red kites are a daily sight here but this is the first time one has flown into garden airspace for #BigGardenBirdwatch - it counts right? 🐦‍⬛

Again, louder for those at the back …. “Harming nature means harming the economy. Challenging bad development is not the blocker to growth” www.wildlifetrusts.org/blog/david-a...

Big news - finally Britain is doing what it says it is going to do, rather than going backward on harmful pesticides. For background info, this pesticide was recommended only for emergency use, but non-organic growers kept requesting "emergency use" every single year.

I personally think that this is a far more appropriate name.

The @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social are calling on retailers to label all peat containing products to help consumers avoid buying it. You can sign their open letter here to support them www.wildlifetrusts.org/peat-inspect... I’ve signed!

More of this going into springtime, we should be empowered to stop and ask the tidy uppers if they really know what they’re doing 🙌🏻 @jamesgilbertmr.bsky.social

Time to turn off, to cultivate some glowing energy and neutralise my negative feelings towards the world with some qigong and tai chi 💯 recommend ✨🙏✨

Nice to recatch a Willow Tit at our #LDV base this morning – originally ringed as an adult at the pool area at Wheldrake Ings in September last year. Good to still have several pairs present around the reserve but worryingly becoming more isolated from others in the wider area 🐦

Can we have a big shout-out for dandelions? These wildflowers will be back in just a few weeks - offering a vital early food source for all sorts of insects, including bees & butterflies. Please let them grow - this short film (made by our daughter) shows how they can boost biodiversity!

Out from behind the desk for a great visit to North Cave Wetlands, so many friendly people, and saw a woodcock, fieldfare, brambling, bull finch, tree sparrows, water birds galore.

Slow going but very beautiful across crisp frozen snow and ice on Ilkley moor today. Catching death of cold without t’at a strong possibility

The hunting ban isn’t working—illegal hunts are still killing wildlife. 🦊❌ It’s time for a proper ban on hunting with loopholes closed and stronger enforcement. Sign the petition today protectthewild.org.uk/our-campaign...

Lovely news from the National Trust today 👏 collective effort needed everywhere to restore nature 💚

I love looking at tree shapes in winter too, there’s still beauty in dark days, look up.

Proper dollops of snow here in north West Yorkshire. Feeding and watering the birds.
