#TinyJoys managed a run during a rare window when it wasn't raining. The sky was gloriously clear and fresh AND I saw two muntjac while I was out.

I saw a lot of people reposting this image, which looks like a poorly thought through advert for the new film version of the Odyssey. But, as has since become apparent, it was not an authentic film poster, so let's do a quick thread on how to check. 1/5

It is publication day for The Far Edges of the Known World! If you love ancient history, global history, unusual stories from the past, or if you want some nice historical escapism about life at the edges of the ancient world - pick up a copy today! #AncientBlueSky #BookSky #Skystorians

Our friends at contubernales.bsky.social are having a sale which INCLUDES our new book A Periodic Table of Greek Mythology! Buying direct from Contubernales means we don't lose half the profit to fees and stuff like we do on other sites, which means more money toward our outreach projects.

omg I loved Yellow Submarine as a teen (before I knew the Odyssey even existed) but did not know this... def need to rewatch!

Do Lego ones count @emmabridges.bsky.social?

If you see this, quote with flowers from your gallery.

Hi, we're new here! Here's a bit about us... We're a UK-based campaign and research organisation, made up of members of the academic community, dedicated to ending sexual misconduct in higher education.

BOOK LAUNCH DAY!! Our book – A Periodic Table of Greek Mythology - hits the shops today, so alongside celebrating we’ll be giving away a bunch of things! Keep your eyes peeled for 5pm tonight and grab your copy here: contubernalesbooks.com

This exciting volume on women (re-)creating Classics, the second of two, is coming in July - featuring a co-authored essay by me and playwright Wendy Haines, along with an extract of Wendy's excellent forthcoming play Medusa! Thanks to the editors for including us! www.bloomsbury.com/uk/women-rec...

#TinyJoys is realising that a thing you have written before can be repurposed for another thing you need to produce so you don’t have to do the Hard Thinking from scratch. 🎉

Wales deserves a strong capital university, one that trains its nurses; embraces the study of Religion and Theology and of Ancient History; teaches numerous languages, including music; one that does not reduce the Arts and Humanities to an irrelevance.

#TinyJoys is noticing for the first time this year that it's still light at 5pm - always a watershed moment in my year 🎉

I will not post much on this topic, but I'm the Head of Ancient History and Religion at Cardiff University. Our staff and students are nothing short of amazing. Those who know me will know that I'm doing all I can.

#TinyJoys is booking a random midweek day off with no plans other than 'rest', whatever that looks like for you. (This is me today and I highly recommend it.)

Please can you help @hellenicsociety.bsky.social. They have left X 🥳 and would like to be added to relevant starter packs. Give them a follow. And please reskeet!

Still lots of unclaimed #buyastrangerabook day offers. I've just reposted them. If there's one you'd like to take advantage of, don't be shy! (UK only)

Delighted to see our @openuniversity.bsky.social Classical Studies MA feature as one of @naomialderman.bsky.social’s cultural highlights!

Very proud of fabulous @openuniversity.bsky.social Classical Studies colleagues who worked as academic advisors on this series - def worth a watch either at 9pm tonight on BBC2 or on iPlayer any time.

Hello! We're migrating from other social media, hoping that this place is healthier! We'd really appreciate help rebuilding our 1000s of followers - many thanks! To kick off, here's a link to our latest podcast - Prof. Marsha Henry on 'the end of peacekeeping': www.buzzsprout.com/1717787/epis...

Hey everyone, I don't think Meg's on Bluesky, so is there any chance we could try and spread this around here? Link: ko-fi.com/agameganon/s... #AncientBluesky #ClassicsBluesky 🏺

How come we’ve forgotten the story of our first (and fiercest) mythic mothers? Properly thrilled to kick off my storytelling year by bringing Queens of Albion to StoryNight at Torriano (London), Weds 12 February, 19:30. www.stepheharrop.co.uk/performances/ torrianomeetinghouse.wordpress.com

Hey! Check out this lovely episode of The Classics Podcast with Katrina of the Classical Association on illustrating the ancient world, with me and @flaroh.bsky.social and @corabeth.bsky.social ! creators.spotify.com/pod/show/the...

In around 4 weeks’ time the first blossom will appear in the hedgerows. Cherry plum flowers (Prunus cerasifera) are delicate & unassuming but that subtle glimmer of white (sometimes pink) is perhaps the most beautiful as it marks the end of winter & the prospect of warmer days.

Hello Bluesky! 👋 🌞 We're the team behind Being Human - the UK's national festival of the humanities. We're all about opening up humanities research and bringing it to life in creative, fun and participatory ways for communities across the UK. It's nice to be here! youtu.be/Wb0pMG0GnNc

Less than a month until my book is out(!), but there was a lot I couldn't fit into the word count. I often add posts to my newsletter expanding on some of the evidence or artifacts I found in my research - so if you fancy a look at some of the global history of the ancient world, take a look.

Handily OUP are offering a hefty discount on my book Warriors' Wives: Ancient Greek Myth and Modern Experience as part of their #AIASCS promotion so you can currently get it for £15 (or $21 in the US) global.oup.com/academic/pro...
