Had a brilliant time having my sister and nephew to visit over the last few days. Got really lucky with the weather yesterday so we were able to head out to Formby and Crosby beach ☀️

Lovely meal at Belzan last night. The highlight was the Guinness Rarebit Potato, but thoroughly enjoyed the whole meal and the restaurant has a lovely laid back vibe. I particularly like that they emphasise sharing all the food.

Regardless of financial pressures, the government's decision to make massive cuts to the Advanced Maths Support Programme (AMSP) on 1st April - part way through the school year - is misguided and wasteful. An effective national network has been disbanded with minimal time to make plans. Shocking.

FaceTimed my parents at the weekend and Dad was particularly chuffed with a set of tiny screwdrivers he’d bought himself. He’s sent me a set too 🤣

Christopher Lloyd is 86, if he lives two more years he’ll leave two scorch marks and he’ll be 17 again

Went to watch Becoming Led Zeppelin. Already loved this band but made me appreciate individual members even more. 5 stars. Fully recommend.

In #MathsToday I ran the online regional heats for our trust wide maths enrichment competition. Loved seeing the enthusiasm of our y7 MathOlympians as they tackled a maths mystery, countdown number problems (generated through Mathsbot, thanks @studymaths.bsky.social!) & answered quick fire Qs 😊

New from @alexjw.bsky.social: A spreadsheet showing entry requirements for 2025-26 Maths degrees in England and Wales. This includes the reported actual grades of undergraduates (most common and lowest). public.3.basecamp.com/p/AXFLJMvqQV...

I am super proud of these resources for maths teachers showcasing a diverse range of mathematicians & linking their work to the curriculum. They're a real team effort & new ones were added today to celebrate LGBT+ History Month. More to come soon 😁 #MathsToday #AMSP amsp.org.uk/resource/9f7...

Well this is distinctly sub-optimal 😒

I’m interested in which topics those of you who teach Maths A Level start off with in Y12. Which topics? Why those in particular?

Thoroughly enjoyed Buffy Revamped at the Lowry this evening. Chuckled and cheered through the whole thing 🧛

i'm tired of being told to stop doomscrolling. i'm just scrolling, it's not my fault there's doom on there

So who else has been reading this then?

Every day in schools brings something different. Today I confiscated an orange that a student had drawn a face on and called Gerald. Reminded me of a time many years ago when I confiscated a potato with a face on. I’m wondering what will come next in this collection 😆

Well this is really pants. AMSP are a fantastic go to for CPD, enrichment, promoting maths etc. and I really appreciated the support of local reps both for myself and for schools I’m working with. Even just today I’ve been talking to teachers about y10 maths feasts. mei.org.uk/changes-to-t...

Seeking a short story that nicely chunks down into 5 parts for world book day. This is so pupils can be read a section by each of their teachers. We've always used Dahl stories as they are good at ending on cliffhangers each period but would like a change. RTs appreciated!
