In university my professor said that when Elvis sings the song it makes you think it’s actually about a dog. When Thorton sings it you KNOW who it’s really about. The emotion is real. Elvis is just saying the words.

Here are our two little farts, Kirby and Squid :) Kirby was lost outside when we took her in and Squid was adopted from a shelter. He had been living in a cage with many other birds on the back of someone’s bike apparently!

Took a walk with my bf last night because the snow was so beautiful. I built a snowman in the park and as soon as I started rolling a ball, another couple started doing the same on the other side. It feels good to get outside and play and create something when things are so scary.

I recommend S1E9 “Lois vs. Evil” of Malcolm in the Middle for an excellent portrait of the US and many things that people are discussing right now. Health care costs, lack of social safety nets, working conditions, even religious intolerance of homosexuality. Crazy show.

One of the things I love about crocheting is that you can try out an idea or an experiment and then just pull it all apart again. It makes it so okay to make mistakes and try again. That mistake is not left in the world to be thought about. Comforting.

It’s so depressing trying to keep up with what’s happening in the world. Some days I’m incensed and driven, and other days I can’t move because people just like me, just like my friends and family, are enduring so much. I feel like I’m trying to carry the weight of their reality along with my own.
