At conferences??? They just give you books??? For free????

Do not mess with librarians. They let complete strangers borrow their books. For a living. Even the hardcovers. They are so much stronger than you know.

My beloved librarians and researchers, how are we citing the deleted fed government webpages accessed via Internet Archive? Like in APA for example. #librarysky #academicsky

Someday, I want to write an essay titled “College will not liberate you from the class struggle (and why you should do it anyway)”.

Leaving for New Orleans this weekend. Cracking into this bad boy today. 📖: Season of the Swamp by Yuri Herrera

One thing I always try to include in my lessons on AI is an emphasis that ChatGPT is a product, created by a company, subject to the present and future whims of that company and its owners. No AI tool is a public utility, so don’t become dependent on it.

People are often surprised to find out that I am a people-pleaser because I am also an asshole.

Hey #OER #OpenEducation peeps, we are compiling a list of national & international OER events! If you know of one in your state or country coming up in 2025, virtual in person or hybrid, please send it to me! Even if there’s no exact dates for the 2025 one yet, please tell me!

Anyway, today is a good day to visit your local library.

It would be fantastic if major federal institutions would acknowledge that the executive branch cannot legally unilaterally cancel or redistribute congressionally appropriated funding on ideological grounds and thus they have no legal obligation to comply with such directives

So I fear, based on having lived through 2017, that Tr*mp voters when they FAFO will not in fact reflect upon their own choices but will instead blame the Dems for not doing more to have convinced them to vote the other way.

Posting this for no particular reason, other than that learning about history is cool. encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/a...

incredible things are happening on the federal employee subreddit

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent. Opportunities are everywhere. Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉

remember stuff like this when they tell you that diversity means a lowering of standards

Reporters: Please stop calling things DEI that are not DEI. This is only cementing the propaganda being used to legitimize the dismantling of all types of initiatives that are not DEI as well as legitimize efforts to end civil rights enforcement. Be specific with your language. Be accurate.

Sorry but adding comments to Spotify podcasts has got to be the stupidest media pivot.

I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service. “Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.

Starvation is the point. Trump could have said “Comply with these demands by [x date] or I will cut off funding.” But he chose to make the pause immediate. He wants people to suffer until they obey.

Hey #booksky & #librarysky , what are some nonfiction (memoir or biography) survival stories centering women? Example: Ada Blackjack by Jennifer Niven.

If my dog doesn’t like you, that’s okay. Don’t take it personally. She hates everybody.

My children have polio and I’m dying from the bird flu. But at least DEI is gone.

Breaking news: the worst person you’ve ever met just started a Patreon.

If she can do it, we can all do it.

More words from a Radical Left hard line Trump hater. Her tone is nasty and she should not be bringing her church into the World of politics!

Monarchy speedrun is already at “meddlesome priest,” pretty good time

any horror movie that takes place in a snow-heavy landscape is automatically good

Reminder that official POTUS, VP, and FLOTUS accounts switch over with each administration, so if you followed the official President Biden account, you are now following President Trump! This is true at least for Meta and X, haven’t confirmed with other platforms.

hi everybody! soo exciting to run from app to app like a plague rat fleeing the whims of the dork ass losers who control our freedom of expression! what a chill and sustainable media landscape!!

Anyone with a Minnesotan parent heard this multiple times growing up.

A Farewell to Arms, The Sound and the Fury, and A Room of One's Own are a few of the many titles that entered the public domain this year. Go forth! Create! lithub.com/vampires-pra...

The House of My Mother by Shari Franke has been identified as the first in a likely wave of memoirs from the children of family vloggers. Franke lays out internet fame not as the origin of the abuse, but a way for her abusers to indulge their worst impulses. Definitely worth a read.
