So on Abrego Garcia: 1) We're going to comply. 2) Trump: We can get him back. 3) Trump: No we can't. 4) DOJ: In sovereign Salvadoran custody. 5) Backsies on the judge's 2019 ruling which Trump 1 didn't contest. Have I gotten all the shifting positions correct?

Trump can't decide what he's doing from minute to minute and meanwhile Xi is not fucking around. How will Trump's rubes respond if Xi makes Trump kiss his feet, I wonder? www.nytimes.com/2025/04/13/b...

I keep puzzling over how Rubio thinks it'll bring PROSPERITY to kidnap gay hairdressers based on their tattoos & then pay $20K/year to detain them in a slave camp. We could have spent that $6M on supporting trade with Congo instead, but Rubio has decided torture is better for profits?

The biggest difference between the people Republicans want to deport and Republicans is the people Republicans want to deport are willing to pay taxes.

This is a Happy Ending story for Bluesky!

Marco Rubio and Kristi Noem kidnapped a woman who was grateful she got her taxes done before they kidnapped Rümeysa Öztürk. www.propublica.org/article/rume...

THREAD: The Trump administration's DOJ has removed a study from the NIJ website that found that immigrants, and particularly undocumented immigrants, commit crimes at significantly lower rates than U.S. citizens. The study is at odds with the Trump regime's propaganda about immigrants & crime. (1)

Let me clarify, bc there are a lot of other facts that are important too. These all take Trump at his claimed word, to want to combat fraud, antisemitism, and China--that's what right wingers claim they're getting w/Trump. Only Trump has failed them all.

3 facts that should drive the news: 1) DOGE has committed, rather than found, fraud. 2) A bunch of antisemites are using a claim to police antisemitism to take over universities. 3) In spite of claims they're cracking down on China, Trump's FP & financial policies have vastly helped China.

My cartoon for this week's @newscientist.com

DOGE already has cost tax payers money (at the very least $500B/year in IRS revenues, but that's before other huge costs are accounted for). And as I keep noting, Elon's $150B/year estimate is what some of the IGs who got fired were finding--w/o cutting services.

An arson attempt on the Governor's home on the first night of Passover. What the hell.

Hours ago, @politico.com revealed that DOGE is working with DHS on automating mass deportation efforts — likely explaining why many US citizens, green card holders, and even a Canadian (in Canada) got threatening emails last night terminating “your parole” and telling them to leave the US in 7 days.

Admittedly, I think Al Green has already filed articles of impeachment. But otherwise, WSJ has most of the Dem caucus beat. www.wsj.com/opinion/trum...

I maybe used to own this coffee maker before I left Murica. And seeing it reminded me I'm much happier just using a french press.

Florida 2000 all over again.

"US to deploy troops along Panama Canal under new deal ... for training, exercises and "other activities" under a joint deal that stops short of allowing the US to build bases in Panama but is still a major concession to US President Donald Trump" www.france24.com/en/live-news...

If anyone's wondering, GOP law firm Jones Day still boasts of its affinity groups right there on the website. They appear to have reworked their 1L diversity conference, tho. www.jonesday.com/en/firm/incl...

Alex Jones’s appeal was DENIED by the Connecticut Supreme Court, upholding our $1 billion+ verdict against him and Infowars on behalf of Sandy Hook families and a first responder. Good day for justice. Bad day for Alex Jones.

Last I checked Trump had an EO prohibiting antisemitism in his Federal govt. Pimping a guy who stans Hitler would seem to violate the EO but maybe I'm misunderstanding how it all works.

Great news, everyone. A surveillance company started by Peter Thiel is part of the hackathon playing with our data at IRS. www.wired.com/story/palant...

I keep coming back to this and wondering why Politico didn't ask Bessent to ID who he thinks are still our allies. Denmark? Canada? Germany? Seems like a faulty starting premise. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

Donald Trump has put a child in charge of capitulating to Vladimir Putin. www.reuters.com/world/trump-...

I'm really trying to figure out how to use Trump's EO purporting to oppose antisemitism against this. Why is the Naval Academy excluded?

What if the insider trading the other day didn't come from Trump insiders or even CEOs to whom Bessent blabbed, but instead from RU and Chinese cut-outs benefitting from hacking into the Small WorldTariffFiesta Signal chat?

Before folks overreact to headlines about the judge’s ruling in the Khalil case, please note that (1) it was an immigration judge (IJ), not a federal district court; and (2) the IJ had no power to consider Khalil’s constitutional objections. This particular decision was a fait accompli.

Welp, got an answer to this question: Apparently the answer is no tariffs are being collected. Trump broke the system www.cnbc.com/2025/04/11/c...

This is how Trump got reelected.
