Taking a picture of something: This doesn't look as good as real life :/ Seeing a hideous picture of myself that someone took: This is surely the most accurate depiction of what I look like.

Got the acceptance for this story earlier this week! There's spiders in it!

Depression is so wild because you can recognize you're experiencing moments that will one day be nostalgic, but the joy is cut off, like a dead limb

why does cisgender nonsense always happen first thing on a Monday

I weaned off antidepressants, and with everything going on lately, I've been STRUGGLING to feel like anything is worth living for/doing. Then I remembered I've forgotten to take my weekly 50k units of vit d for... months? Amazing what that little blue gel capsule does to me. We're so back

For #caturday, ultimate babygorl Griddle woke me up when she decided to jump on the bed and lay wherever she landed. No catching herself. Just launch, initiate potato sequence, lay. Straight across my throat. Here is a picture of when she was diagnosed 100% Perfect and Baby a few months ago for tax

My #christmastree star is a butt

I like how when I wear certain sweaters, it looks like Gawain, my fox skull tattoo, is wearing a festive hat.

This is where I would put my gif of her saying "I've got no guts for merriment this year" If i had one

go get a library card

Last night i was up until 2 am feeling general malaise about burning out at my job and beating myself up for not having more writing completed over the last 3, horrible years for me, only to sit down and write 1000 words in 1 hour tonight and finish a chapter that stumped me all 3 of those years

If I heard a noise outside & a raccoon was trying to steal my garbage, I would simply open my front door & offer them the warmer garbage from the inside of the house. This is called "being a good host."

An easy way to support your local library is to participate in their reading challenges! Usually this just involves logging minutes. It gives us statistics we can report to state libraries or simply to show the community our value 🤗 Check if your library has a winter reading challenge right now!

I'm disappointed in the lack of screenshots and gifs from The Green Knight.

My state has tried to put the 10 commandments in all classrooms and luckily my parish opposed it so that, for now, the law is blocked for us. But our AG. *our AG* is appealing it Our governor, who calls diverse picture books porn, told us parents who oppose the law to tell our kids to "look away" 🙄

This December really isn't Decembering for me at all 🫠

My library subscribes to a lot of electronic resources so our community can access them for free at home - like LinkedIn Learning, ABCMouse, Creativebug, and more. And most of the time, I can hear about a book I want to read and get access to it immediately through cloudLibrary or Libby 👀

In case you didn't know, librarians are educated professionals with a master's degree and don't just willy nilly buy any old books for their libraries.

Past me, setting my earbuds down wherever: there is no possible way I will forget I put these here Future me: there was at least one possible way

What are y'all reading this weekend? I just finished the audiobook of Leigh Bardugo's Hell Bent yesterday and immediately started This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone for the long drive to outreach. I'm already halfway through 😅

Happy #caturday from half my herd, Guts and Griddle

the 9yo before biting the head off a chocolate bear: "im gonna decapi-taste him"

Y'all, the elf ears were a liiiiieeeeeee But i guess late night outreach in the cold wasn't so bad. I helped kids make snowpeople out of tealights and markers and drank experimental coffee when the PJs truck machine broke but they Frankenstein'd something together for me anyway 😂

Me, after 3 nights out in a row (twice for work, once with friends)

Last minute, I got pulled into an outreach I have been trying to avoid for months by pretending it doesn't exist because it means I'll have to work until 9 pm 2 cities over but yesterday I learned i get elf ears at this thing Stay tuned

At a youth services holiday luncheon and mentioned this mishap to my coordinator. She is getting someone to cover my event 😭 Holiday reckoning averted

I bring a certain "pocket full of octopuses" vibe to the function

Just received a hold request on a short story 🤞🤞🤞

I just found out my kid's annual violin concert is on a night that I scheduled a library program that is already publicized and now I feel like a work obsessed businessman who neglects his family and has to relearn the meaning of the holidays (i have never missed a concert until now)

One of my fave librarian memories was this year, when a tornado hit the street my branch is on (took out a wall of windows in my section). 2 boys from the neighborhood behind us discovered we lend litter pickup equipment and of their own accord, checked it out and cleaned up in their neighborhood.

Just a reminder that your local library has more than just books! Many also have dvds, cds, video games, game systems, internet hot spots, streaming services, ebooks, audio books, park passes, museum passes, and so so much more! Maybe it's time for a visit!

shoutouts to everyone whose main accomplishment in 2024 was resisting the urge to walk into the sea; I see you
