There is only one bad Sly & The Family Stone record, and this is it. Anything else that’s on vinyl and says Sly Stone on the credits is more than worth picking up. I wish we as a country were once again worthy of the best of Sly. This is all to say Questlove’s Hulu doc on Sly is pretty great.

I’m currently reading “A History of Private Life” and came across a Roman calendar from 25 AD. The days are abbreviated A thru H. H? Wait a minute! The Beatles were right! There were eight days a week! Apparently there were also ten months, adding up to 300 days, with an unmeasured winter end.
