Bloomsburg’s music and book mecca since 2010, run by Endless Nick and Emily. As independent as it gets. Nick runs this account, so blame him for the bad jokes.

What makes me, a nerd, most peeved about Shane Gillis’ hideous monologue on SNL last night is when he alleges the Sullivan Ballou letter, one of the most beautiful letters in english, from a RI Union soldier, is actually written by Confederates. And then ends with more racial sex panic.🤮 PA proud.

REST IN LPEACE: To David Johansen. Yeah yeah, New York Dolls and Buster Poindexter (which could have only happened in the 1980s) but my favorite music was this neglected collaboration with former Beach Boy Blondie Chaplin. That plus the movie Scrooged, and David’s in my pantheon. Respect.

About a month ago, my grandfather died. Going through a box of documents while writing his obituary, I found a membership card for the Berwick Ukrainian Club. David Matash, Member No. 001. Today is a good day to be in the Ukrainian Club. Vote differently next time, Berwick. Demand a next time.

How it started/How it's going

WTF: Were they gonna try and off Z in the White House? Whether or not Trump is a Russian asset is of no practical importance when he acts exactly like a Russian asset. www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

Got these beauties in the store now! Silkworm is still my all time favorite band.

I’m no 5th dimensional chess player, but it seems to me to be a BAD move for the current administration to be intentionally creating the circumstances that led to the French Revolution.

HE WAS NO HACK, MAN: My Gene Hackman top five according to how I rated movies on IMDB: 1. The Royal Tenenbaums 2. Young Frankenstein 3. The Conversation 4. Night Moves 5. Prime Cut Technically, The French Connection should be at 3, but while it’s great, Hackman’s hero is too much of a prick in it.

Who would have guessed this timeline’s Trojan Horse came in the form of incel tech support kids?

NEW STICKERS AVAILABLE NOW: Fitting the art to the times. Getting into agitprop. Everybody depicted on US currency would agree with the sentiment. Fifty cents at Endless Records!

The bearded men of Berwick, PA apparently used to have some kind of social club. Anybody know anything about this?

I think I’m gonna make stickers of this

LET THERE BE LIGHT: Bloomsburg’s new Gillespie Park (really more of a plaza) just got the power turned on. This is right across the street from my store.

By most measures, the next ghoul to get confirmed to Trump’s cabinet, Linda McMahon at the Education Department, is entirely unqualified. On the other hand, she’s probably the only cabinet member in history with ACTUAL EXPERIENCE in eating shit sandwiches, so 🤷🏻‍♂️

“I am told that even respectable characters speak of a monarchical form of government without horror…What a triumph for advocates of despotism to find that we are incapable of governing ourselves, and systems founded on the basis of equal liberty are merely ideal and fallacious” -G. Washington, 1786

Silkworm are planning fall reunion shows

Now that Mitch McConnell announced his pending retirement the question remains: which leaves US government first, Mitch or our Constitutional system?

LAST CALL FOR RSD WANTS: We can’t guarantee you’ll get it, no holds, etc. But we’ll do our best to have some copies in the store on the big day. My order deadline is today.

No reason to get this song on the billboard charts, no reason at all. All I’m saying is that if America can do it for Kate Bush after a Stranger Things feature, they can do it for Pavement in the middle of an attempt to LARP Animal Farm with human lead roles.

Jesus christ, mob lawyer Emil Bove, currently in the Adams hearing, is only 42 years old. THIS guy is my age and looks like this. A steady diet of evil is apparently hard on the body. Life imitates the end of The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Trump is full-on a Russian agent. Who would have ever guessed this would be the true end of the cold war? www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

Hey! This new Sharon Van Etten LP is pretty good.

No reason to listen to this song these days, no reason at all

Endless Records the tour

New arrivals are going out into the bins every day at Endless Records. Keeping it spinning 33 and 1/3 RPM at a time.

There is only one bad Sly & The Family Stone record, and this is it. Anything else that’s on vinyl and says Sly Stone on the credits is more than worth picking up. I wish we as a country were once again worthy of the best of Sly. This is all to say Questlove’s Hulu doc on Sly is pretty great.

This Knoebels faux lego set apparently exists. Amazing! I’m not selling it, but I thought you should know it’s out there in the world anyway. I want them to do the Roto-Jets next.

THE BROWNSHIRTS ADD VANCE IN EUROPE: Our VP just gave a speech to euro leaders advocating shared focus on protecting democratic rights. Whose rights? Nazi rights, literally. Believe people when they tell you who they are.

The stickered over menu board shows the effects of new inflation at my local bagel shop. I don’t blame the bagel shop.

Michael Shannon doing a Classic Rock Appreciation Society style R.E.M. tribute in Philly in a few weeks. Any Bloomsburg people going? I’m thinking about it!

Well, Bloomsburg’s going to be the pickleball capital of Pennsylvania by next year, or maybe the pickleball capital of Oceania, who knows where we’ll be by then www.wnep.com/video/news/l...

Sure, he won the election, but is it a coincidence my dude is fleeing my hometown at the earliest opportunity, closing an office that’s been open for, what, 30+ years? 🫣 www.northcentralpa.com/community/st...

Who had the worst night?

NOW PLAYING: Tanita Tikaram’s Ancient Heart LP from 1988. At best she sounds like a lady version of eighties Leonard Cohen. The hit off of this, “Twist In My Sobriety” has an oboe solo (!) This is my soundtrack for guacamole making this afternoon.

THE KENDRICK POWER RANKING: 1. Kendrick Lamar (murdered Drake, won the Grammy, went to the Super Bowl) 2. Anna Kendrick (Woman of the Hour is a good movie, Netflix subscribers) 3. Eddie Kendricks (love him, but he’s dead)

I’m currently reading “A History of Private Life” and came across a Roman calendar from 25 AD. The days are abbreviated A thru H. H? Wait a minute! The Beatles were right! There were eight days a week! Apparently there were also ten months, adding up to 300 days, with an unmeasured winter end.

THE NEW KENDRICK: In stock just in time for the Super Bowl

This is worth reading and thinking about. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/08/o...
