Unhinged fascists with outsized roles at meetings of cabinets they are not members of

#SundaysAreForSpinning : I tried thread plying and using beads for the first time. I used up 200m of thread and probably less than halfway done. @jillianeve.bsky.social had a great Vlogmas video that gave advice on how to do it. #Handspinning

Our 7-year-old decided she was tired of waiting for one of the adults to wake up this morning and opened the box of Pączki herself.

Reacher is a fucking prince.

#WIPWednesday : I finished another color block on the blanket and joined a new ball of yarn on the shrug/cardigan. #Knitting 🧶

#FiberuaryChallenge2025 day 18: Twos Day. The shawl so nice I made it twice. The pattern is “Kline Shawl” by Jennifer Dassau.

I got an email this morning from a couple named Eric and Joanna Reuter who found a snake in their basement. They used one of my comics to help determine that it was a North American Racer and not a more common ratsnake. The photos are so, so cute

#FiberuaryChallenge2025 day 17: monochromatic. This log cabin style blanket is very colorful, but one of the blocks fits today’s prompt. #Knitting 🧶

It’s that time of the year where we play the “are there clothes in the dryer still damp or are they just cold?” game.

#SundaysAreForSpinning : I didn’t really feel like spinning this past week. But I did spend some time yesterday picking locks. These are from one of two neck fleeces I got from Steitzhof Merinos last year.

#FiberuaryChallenge2025 day 16: Reading and Watching. I’m currently reading “New York 2140” and rewatching Battlestar Galactica (just started season 3). My husband and I are also rewatching “The Last of Us” and watching the new seasons of “Severance” and “Yellowjackets.”

We’re trying to decide which show to rewatch. The one about a resistance to a fascist regime, the one about the aftermath of a fungal plague, or the one about the aftermath of a flu epidemic?

More succinct than my rant this weekend.

I missed a couple days, but back on #FiberuaryChallenge2025 Day 12: Unfinishwd Business and #WIpWednesday. I pulled the blanket out of hibernation and am continuing to plug away on the shrug/cardigan. #Knitting 🧶

"Our party must act swiftly. There’s no time for hesitation. Or delay. Or dawdling. Or dragging our feet. Or indecision. Or dilly-dallying. Or stalling. Or hemming and hawing. Or equivocation. Or grandstanding. Or mincing words. Or slow-walking. Or procrastinating."

#FiberuaryChallenge day 9: Sunday Funday. A theme of today was going crafting (knitting and spinning) while watching TV. Also did laundry, talked to my mom, and took the kids to their swimming lessons.

I hate everything the current administration is doing. But what wound me up this morning was getting a fundraising email from the Harris campaign asking for help to flip the House. The DNC is not getting another dime from me unless they show me they can resist with the power they do have now.

#FiberuaryChallenge2025 Day 8: Flat Lay Fun. Probably not as aesthetic as it could be, but illustrating the start of creating a sweater.

In a sentence never before uttered by humans, I am delighted to share that an alligator stole my conservation instructor’s hat by jauntily walking into the water while wearing it 🐊

I’m doing a rewatch of the Battlestar Galactica reboot and reached the point where it became obvious they should have stuck with shorter seasons. The miniseries-“Resurrection Ship” was a great run, but I skipped “Black Market” because it was so terrible. I’ll probably start skipping more episodes.

Getting snow on the ground in the winter in an immediate mood lifter for me.

#FiberuaryChallenge2025 day 7: Mood Booster. Tonight was the first time a group of “crafty dabblers” got together. The event was arranged an hosted by a woman we all knew, but it was the first time many of us met each other. It was wonderful to meet new people and we all made felted soaps.

#FOFriday : I finished this cowl. It’s plain stockinette to let the yarns (a slub yarn held together with a suri/silk blend) be the star. Both yarns were dyed by @muse2320fiber.bsky.social , and the pattern was from her, too.

#FiberuaryChallenge2025 day 6: Pop of Color. The little pops of color on a well-done colorway are why I like speckled yarns. This colorway, Crystal, is one of my favorites and is dyed by @tanisfiberarts.bsky.social .

#FiberuaryChallenge2025 day 5: work on progress. Aren’t we all? I’m going to need to frog and redo the sleeve on the black sweater to space out the decreases and do fewer—it’s much too tight. I started a shrug out of handspun and worked a few more rows on the handspun shawl.

#FiberuaryChallenge2025 day 4: Inspiration. One of these days I’m going to knit a colorwork sweater inspired by white birch trees in the fall against a brilliant blue sky. Basically this photo, but on a cloudless day.

Incoming message from the Grammy’s. Lady Gaga wants to know what the fuck you’re doing so close to the Neutral Zone.

#FiberuaryChallenge2025 day 3: Monday morning. I took this photo just after 7:30. We’ve finally been getting more morning light, but the overcast skies and snow made it gloomy.

#SundaysAreForSpinning : I haven’t finished my wheel project (wool/silk/angora blend), but I brought my espinner to #SweaterCamp2025 and spun up a bobbin of grey Cheviot from @getbentzfarm.bsky.social . I also got my yarn from the “Year with the Sheep” with Get Bentz . #Handspinning #HandspunYarn

#FiberuaryChallenge2025 day 2: Looking Forward. I’m currently knitting with yarn I scoured (the wool part of the blend), blended, carded, and spun. I’m looking forward to knitting with more of my handspun and preparing and spinning more of the fleece I have in storage.

I’m cross posting the #FiberuaryChallenge2025 prompts here. My name is Elizabeth, I knit and spin a lot, and I dabble in weaving and sewing. Most of the content I post here is going to be related to those activities, but it doesn’t mean I’m not paying attention to the dumpster fire around us.

#FOFriday : I recently finished a pair of socks for my dad. I didn’t use a pattern, but followed advice from @roxmpls.bsky.social and @kateatherley.bsky.social based on his foot measurements. The main yarn is a self-striping from West Yorkshire Spinners; the heel is from stash. #Knitting 🧶

I’m getting ready to head to my first ever #SweaterCanp with @darnknitanyway.bsky.social . I’m excited to see what it’s like.
