I made this Toolbox for my son's 9th birthday. Both his sisters got one at that age, so I'd created a bit of tradition! A simple celtic knot design is on the sides. Watch the full video on my YouTube channel now! #Toolbox #carvedtoolbox #tools #woodentoolbox

This beetroot from my store is looking great. Made an amazing soup last night.

Interesting start to the day. Deer road kill (no damage to the car). I’ve missed them by inches so many times but this morning the luck of one ran out. I am looking after him, he’s sleeping in a cold box now…. #countrylife

Broke the tractor. I'm so close to doing everything by hand as it's just easier than fixing machinery all the time.

Book 5 of 2025, Loved this final book in the series. Laugh out loud funny at times, and superbly written, a great cast of characters. Kind of low stakes/cosy sci-fi, which leaves you feeling happy. I will read more by this author. Well read as well, great voice.

Book 6 of 2025. Loved it, very 1950s in its style, but still completely holds up. Yes it's a bit sexist &"of it's time", but for the concept it's brilliant. Bit worrying how quickly he thought the world could turn to chaos (the morning after)!

The apples from the store taste amazing this time of year.

Little handmade catch.

Nature finds a way... I worry the world is telling to stop posting content! Left my camera for a few minutes and a bird pooped on it! Is it trying to tell me something? I know my YouTube needs work, but... #creator #youtube #video

We have a lot of birthdays over these few weeks and that means a lot of cake. This week I said to the eldest could I make something other than cake and she agreed, so we had birthday panettone! Was rather lovely if I do say so myself.

I think at best I can call this a restorative hedge lay. The one stump which had all the growth was rotten and wouldn't be pleached (not with my skills anyway). There's not a 10ft gap I'll need to plant up, then a few more to lay over then another gap. 10 years time it might look better...

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this much growth of litchen and moss is a good thing for our air quality around here.

My latest video, coppicing my little patch of willow. For one of my videos it's done really well with views. youtu.be/A6jxzTyauCg

The branches are down. Going to leave the trunk to pollard back I think.

Giant fallen oak tree dismantling continued today. This was after I'd treated my bees for varroa and got stung on the neck...

Gingerbread biscuits sure help a winters day...

Carving today though.

Idiots on twitter celebrating that fact checker is to be shut down. "Serves them right for supporting their paymasters" one tweeted. I mean it's the exact opposite surely? It's because they wouldn't they no longer have a paymaster. Most social media is a cesspit now.

While social media dies a little more remember small businesses have newsletters! Here's mind, once a month - dashboard.mailerlite.com/forms/213233...

Just an hour today, but started to dismantle the oak tree that fell last spring. Need out gateway back!

No I'm not crazy planting squash and sweetcorn now - it's just a germination test!

Still a few spaces left if you’re interested in a planing approach from a once non Gardener now managing 26 10m beds and 2 greenhouses… baltichomesteaders.com/vegetable-ga...

Wooden gate latch. Not sure how long this will last, but should do the job for now. If it breaks, I'll get one made out of metal.

Spot of willow coppicing this weekend.

My books read of 2024. Set a goal of 52 and managed 60, really loved it this year. Check out my blog (off of social media) for a breakdown of what hut and what didn't.

Just fancied some baguettes for lunch...

Merry Christmas everyone! XxX

Bit of freshly baked sourdough for lunch with pate and chutney. Hope you're all having a nice Christmas eve.

After working on this piece for days it's great to see the oak finally "pop" with some oil on it!

Such a brilliant book, characterisation so good you feel that you're there in the bunkhouse with them, an undercurrent of unease the whole time, knowing something bad will happen but not sure what. When you finish this book, it will be there in your thoughts for days.

Musk needs a volcanic lair.

This project is turning into one I wish I'd never taken on. However, I'm hoping it'll make a good video when it's finished.

What a jigsaw. The best I could do with some very substandard oak. Hopefully it'll make a good top.
