Yep, I am living with cows.

Self-promotion feels odd with so much chaos in the world, but I worked with two terrific students who deserve recognition. We find that educational polygenic scores are predictive of physical limitations among older adults with European ancestry, but not among those with African ancestry.

This is one of the best and easiest-to-use collections of R packages out there for summarizing fitted models. 💯

I have a new book out! Approaches to Mixed Methods Research (coauthored with @lisapearce.bsky.social ) is the newest contribution to the Quantitative Applications in the Social Sciences (little green books) series! tinyurl.com/4xpbbbt8.

I really liked this idea of using a histogram as a legend in a choropleth map (since land isn't unemployed; people are), so I made a little guide to doing it with #rstats, {ggplot2}, and {patchwork} www.andrewheiss.com/blog/2025/02...

Across 2,500 datasets IPUMS offers 2.6 billion person records and includes data from more than 150 countries. We think that's pretty fantastic. Learn more about IPUMS and the work we do at www.ipums.org/by-the-numbers

Happy to see this great op-ed in our local newspaper. If you’re lucky enough to have a local paper, this is a good way to reach out to people in your community. Weaving facts in with a personal story or important local issues is an effective way to get people to think and change minds.

FANTASTIC ICPSR at U Mich is coordinating the archiving of at-risk federal data (all of it?) You can upload data you have & search for data you don’t have www.datalumos.org/datalumos/

@emagree.bsky.social, Amanda Sonnega & Douglas Wolf describe how National Institute on Aging has contributed to the growth in the field of gerontology, focusing primarily on their support for the creation & use of an extensive body of relevant data resources myumi.ch/pknVA

A little bit about my research: I am studying geographic disparities in health and mortality and their environmental and structural determinants. My previous research focused on state and county levels, but I am now shifting to an individual-level approach for better causal inference & explanation.

Because of the recent dumpster fire, I am on the job market now. Please DM me for any (potential) job opportunities. I appreciate all support and help.

outstanding work by this team to get the absolute best out of base R graphics. light on install size, no dependencies hell, this is awesome work and i am excited to check it out

Are you tired of analyzing your nominal and ordinal variables like its the 1950s? Then read @sociologicalsci.bsky.social today and see if ME inequality and total ME are right for you. We develop new methods for summarizing effects for nominal/ordinal independent and dependent variables.

The core work of IPUMS includes preserving, harmonizing and disseminating the world’s population data. You can support our work through a donation at z.umn.edu/help-power-i....

That's why IPUMS is always my favorite. ♥️

I LOVE IPUMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IPUMS NHGIS is also a good data source.

What is structural racism, and how do we measure it? @tyson-brown.bsky.social, @pahoman.bsky.social, and I have a forthcoming Annual Review article on @socarxiv.bsky.social. Check it before studying structural racism is banned (and follow Tyson and Trish, new to Bluesky). osf.io/6zbgh/

Hot off the press! 📣📣In this tutorial we illustrate available multiple imputation approaches for handling longitudinal data including when they are clustered within higher level clusters. A reproducible example with R and Stata code provided! #OpenAccess onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

Building an interdisciplinary network or interest group could help address this challenge.

The main obstacle for health scholars studying the political economy of health is how to measure political economy. Political economy and poverty scholars may be interested in exploring how these structures shape population health.

Are there any health, political economy, or poverty scholars, etc., who would be interested in compiling a list of political economy measures at state, county, or other scales (e.g., state policies, local government spending) and possibly collaborating on several projects?

¡Hola! I’m new to the @bsky.app neighborhood & would love to connect with Latina/o/x aging & health scholars across the epidemiology, gerontology, public health, sociology, & statistics fields. I’m a gerontologist & population health researcher focused on older adults in U.S. Latina/o/x communities.

We know unequal exposure to heat is a serious climate problem, but policy solutions may face an uphill battle in public opinion: seeing air conditioning as a luxury good. Out today in open access at Socius: journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

What a nightmare: "rgdal" is retired. I even don't know how to read a shapefile in R now.

An invaluable review paper that brings together recent developments in causal inference and life-course epidemiology.
