DOGE's new AI, built to scan federal workers' emails to see if they get to keep their jobs, is the latest in a number of AI schemes from Musk. We might scoff at how dumb these ideas are, but the truth is, they're not even supposed to work. They're built to eliminate accountability.

See this is how you fucking do it

when i was in high school i scored a 100 on the sat. it was the highest score ever seen. after hearing of this, rick pitino and papa john schnatter came to my school to ask me to start at point guard for louisville. i said no, i have to become a youtuber instead. they said "what's youtube?" exactly

I give it like 5 years before Apple completely pivots and just outwardly abandons privacy due to the inevitable impediment to the "line go up at all cost" business strategy.

Last week I had a conversation with @epochphilosophy.com about anarchism and postmodernism. It was a welcome change of pace and a great discussion. Go give it a watch! youtu.be/dhFcBWwPF9o

“There may be more beautiful times, but this one is ours.” - Jean-Paul Sartre

Years ago, after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, I interviewed a former fb employee, and I remember her continually emphasizing that these tech bros weren't evil geniuses, but were, in fact, dangerous because they were utterly clueless, totally reckless, and had too much power.

I think it wise for us to keep channels like Philosophy Tube at an arms length for anything outside of pop culture content. The last thing I ever want to do is talk poorly on a content creator I don’t know, but there’s so *many* things that just make me question the authenticity of their platform.

I think there is a lot of truth to this. And those of us who make philosophy content need to be self aware and self critical, and fight the temptation to use philosophy to make content and instead use the form of content to do philosophy in a public manner.

If it wasn’t for SSRI’s it’s very possible I wouldn’t be here right now.

Actually hilarious how much r/JoeRogan actually hates Joe Rogan at this point. The entire discourse is about how JRE and the entire reactionary charade he does just sucks lol

INLAND EMPIRE - Why should we just leave and leave -- and the world get left behind?

Well, one benefit of the Chiefs losing the Super Bowl is that the chance of my home getting hit by stray bullets is effectively zero.

Congratulations! You have reached the end of bluesky! Your device will now explode

“If we missed the market on regulation, we can add it back in” Framing the existence of regulation as something that wasn’t added after like a million people died is wild

The American mind cannot comprehend healthcare outside of employment

This is hands down the most stupid trade I think I have ever seen and I don’t think it’s close.

If anyone needs a quiet corner of the internet where discourse isn’t laden in irony or antagonism, go read YouTube comments in cooking videos. It’s nice over there.

Cliche to say and stuff but we’re really in a deeply hypernormalized situation in which we have accepted the absurdity of our political and cultural reality without any alternative. It sucks!

According to a new report from the Washington Post over 3,000 Native children were killed at US-run boarding schools. This estimate is 3x the number cited in a recent federal report. www.washingtonpost.com/investigatio...

I wholeheartedly believe when looking towards a better world and the people within it, character and how one treats another is simply more important than abstract ideological labels. I don’t see emancipatory politics being successful if that’s not at the root of our philosophy.

This is also why conservatives spent so much time year back breathlessly raging about postmodernism. Not because they had much knowledge of French philosophy, but because the basic idea of postmodernism is that received narratives maybe aren't as solid and reality-based as those in power would like.
