well, this made me tear up in the bookstore. when i met with roger angell shortly before he died, he said that the highlights of his days were the conversations he had with someone who was writing a book about his mother. he wanted her legacy documented as his final act. 🤍

If you real goal was to reduce the scope of the federal government, it wouldn't look anything like this. Randomly and chaotically slashing employees doesn't give anybody more freedom, the laws don't go away, nor anybody's need to interact with these agencies. It makes government worse, not smaller.

Genuinely frightening to see a conspiratorial extremist who urgently desires vengeance against the regime's enemies and whose only loyalty is to Trump elevated to such a position of power. I don't see how anyone can confidently declare America is not accelerating towards outright authoritarianism.
