Most the frames on this roll were underexposed. Ah well. So it goes. I do love the light on the beach as the tide goes out. 📷 Leica M-A, 28mm VL, Kikipan 320 #filmphotography #believeinfilm #analogphotography

This weeks new content. …in which I admit to being autistic in an article that will probably be read by my peers and clients 🤮

15 years working in software has effected me deeply. I am now the Pat Butcher of tech. #software #programming

I wrote this last month. Updated with my sultry tones (audio version) and provocative artists rendition of how I think Innovate UK distribute public monies. …if only more people with protected characteristics could get under than money shower.

The wife and the daughter aren’t about, so the pooch is seizing the oppurtunity to be a little fusspot.

A winters walk in Caernarfon. Taken over the holiday period in 2024. It was one of those walks where you didn’t really want to go, but accepted you needed a break from eating, drinking and Christmas movies. 📷 Leica M-A, 28mm VL, Kikipan 320 #filmphotography #believeinfilm #analogphotography

I have been exercising my autistic hyper focus on this project for a month or two now. I finally got it to a place I think I can consider a ‘starting point’, and now I am burnt out and knackered. If you work in Tech & believe it should be more equitable, take a look 😊🙏 Equitabletech.io

Black & white film photography can be hard. Just going through a reel shot around Christmas. This one’s from a little walk in the woods. My wife and daughter. 📷 Leica M-A, 28mm VL, Kikipan 320 #filmphotography #believeinfilm #analogphotography

My latest bit of writing. Listen or read here 👇

After my little girl was born she had to spend a couple of days on this teeny tiny sunbed to help with jaundice. This picture speaks of those first few days in hospital. She made it home early Christmas Day 2023. 📷 Leica Q2 28mm #photography #photooftheday

At 6’4 and built like a shed. I am not the kind of individual strangers approach in the street. Today while carrying my lunch I got stopped three times by random people in five minutes. I can only assume carrying a foot long sub makes me somewhat more comical & approachable 🤷😂

Nothing like getting professional headshots taken to remind myself how awkwardly i can occupy unfamiliar space 👌 #actuallyautistic

When governments undermine encryption, they create vulnerabilities that can be exploited. Not just by law enforcement, but by criminals and authoritarian regimes. At the same time, refusing to regulate AI means powerful systems can be developed without oversight. 🧵 1/3

😂Step 1: Stay off Meta apps

Be yourself! Not like that. Speak up! Not like that. Relax! Not like that. Advocate for yourself! Not like that. Meet your needs! Not like that. Find what works for you! Not like that. Being different is awesome! Not like that. Find your passions! Not like that. Take care of yourself! Not like that.

If only one meme could define my career as a programmer. This would be it. #Coding #DevLife #TechTalk #CodeCommunity #LearnToCode

The first, and fifth annual daddy daughter portrait.

🚨 Encryption is not just about privacy—it’s about equality. And right now, the British Government is attempting to weaken it. I wrote a deep dive on why weakening encryption isn’t just a bad idea—it’s a human rights issue & it disproportionately affects marginalised communities. Read or listen: 👇

There’s a little hermitage in woodland not far from my house. It has this beautiful window in it. 📷 Leica M-A, 28mm VL, Portra 400 #filmphotography #believeinfilm #analogphotography

The UK government know Apple is never going to do this. We have already seen how state actors can analyse traffic patterns & none content signal to track threats, without being able to read the data. This is all about precedent setting and control.

Great thing about only having sheep for neighbours. When you wake up with a song in your head, you can blast it while breakfasting.

Been rocking a Neurodiversity Pin Badge on my over-shirt today. Proud & relieved to be making peace with who I am. Although of course the tiny hole in my overshirt made by the badge is massively irritating me. #actuallyautistic

Got to fire off a couple of rolls of film at a wedding recently. I don’t think I will be giving up the day job. 📷 Leica M-A, 28mm VL, Ektar 100 #filmphotography #believeinfilm #analogphotography

On use of language. My autism assessment said something like; “Edd has an extensive vocabulary & he is happy to use it even when aware others may not understand” It’s my little way of getting back at a world that often treats me like an idiot. Don’t understand my lexicon. Shame. Go read a book.

Tips for starting out as a coder for the rest of us. Written by an autistic who struggled to find their way, but ultimately did- and held the ladder for others to climb too. While aimed at coders, a lot of these points are relevant to anyone navigating tech from the margins.

I run a little software development house in Caernarfon. The local coffee house sells us these 1kg bags of coffee, roasted in town. 👌🚀🔥⛽️❤️

On a recent work trip, I took a quick tour of the Barbican before catching the train home. I wouldn’t fancy taking the emergency stairs out of the towers. 📷 Leica M-A, 28mm VL, Ilford 400 #filmphotography #believeinfilm #analogphotography #london

I took my wife’s name when we got married. She had the better name. So why not? Also #smashthepatriarchy You would be astonished how often the change comes up when people do their due diligence on me. And taking my wife’s name, always seems to be their last guess as to why I changed it ?!

In the waiting. Taken a couple of weeks before the birth of our first child. We rented a holiday let in Mousehole, Cornwall and hunkered down to enjoy our last child free holiday for a while. 📷 Zorki4, 35mm, Ilford 400 #filmphotography #believeinfilm #analogphotography

Reading new news about DeepSeek ripping off OpenAI and feeling vindicated that I have kept this in the office. #vindication #coding #ai

Between 2004 and 2022 Innovate UK distributed billions in taxpayer money, to companies who have perpetuated inequality in the science and technology sector. It's time for this to change.

This morning I read that DeepSeek used training data generated from other language models which has companies like OpenAI fuming, and I can't stop thinking about how there's a lesson in there

Spending Monday morning solving one of those tickets from the backlog that nobody has wanted to touch. …and as the database server approaches failover territory. You realise why. #coding
