Ronald Reagan famously said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’” The Trump administration may be giving the best counterargument in the worst possible way. It was nice to have a government that was (imperfectly) trying to help.

"Maybe Donald Trump hasn't been found guilty of dozens of counts of felony business fraud. But he's a potential... oh, wait... sorry, wrong about that first thing."

I think some of these law firms could use some of those pro bono hours they promised to make it very clear to the administration that they need to follow due process, and that sending citizens to foreign prisons is unconstitutional.

So POTUS Trump is paying someone (with what money?) to hold a US resident in a prison doing hard labor in the service of that contracted party. Seems like the slave trade to me. These are either illegally misappropriated funds or Trump using his money for slavery, right?

He was “engaged in human trafficking” because he was a human being who got trafficked to a foreign country.

I like to imagine a future where Abrego Garcia redecorates Mar-a-Lago because he owns it after a lawsuit.

…I feel like a lot of characters on the show “Hannibal” would say the same thing about Hannibal.

I feel like there should be bipartisan support in Congress for avoiding things that are this monumentally stupid, but we’ll see, I guess.

Can I just note that, for the record, a Democratic administration would not be plunging the economy into chaos or destroying the structure of the US government and firing important government workers? Seems worthy of comment.

Pushing back against anti-DEI crap should have always been: “We dealt with segregation, and only racists want it back. The GOP wants it back.”

JFC America has a service trade surplus with the rest of the world and this toolbag/the GOP in general wants middle school kids in Florida doing iPhone assembly at midnight on a school night

Maybe we shouldn’t have let a guy convicted of dozens of counts of felony business fraud be in charge of American financial and trade policy?

Even the metaphors bespeak bullying. It should be a lay-up to be the anti-bullying party.

Again, some of what this administration is doing is dumb. Some of it is sociopathic. These are not the people you want wielding this power. We could have been so much better off.

Please note Florida has some recent child labor policy changes. Those manufacturing jobs may end up going to your underage kids instead of you.

Again, we would have been better off if we’d given him a TV show where he played the POTUS so these people would be guest stars and not presidential advisors.

If you don’t think he’s mad enough at America for not re-electing him in 2020 that he wants to destroy it, you may be underestimating his petty vindictiveness.

This is the sort of thing the current administration apparently wants never to happen in the US.

This is the same guy who keeps bragging about not starting wars in his first term, right?

In discussions about free speech, it’s important to note that the GOP administration is actually using the power of the state to punish speech with which it disagrees.

Another example, along with cuts to education, arts, and entitlement funding, of the government working to harm the American people. Not supporting the general welfare, but enriching the corrupt.

So, what you're saying is: Idiocracy was a little too optimistic a vision of the future...
