If you are a lover of BBC Radio 3 as I am, you'll love Douglas Kennedy's @boundlessmagazine.bsky.social piece — and you'll join me in hoping that the Sounds app works things out for international listeners! www.boundlessmagazine.com/p/music-hear...

In huge news, the UK government was just defeated in the House of Lords for a second time over AI & copyright. The government had removed amendments to the Data Bill that would require AI companies to disclose their training data. The Lords have now reinserted them. 🧵 1/2

My mother gave me Nobody’s Boy by Hector Malot — after I told her, aged about 10, that a book would never make me cry.

Well, this is the worst. I simply can’t understand the blindness to how valuable (if we’re just being mechanistic) real creativity is to this country. Aside, you know, from anything else. 🙄

Seconded…

Being among the gathering at St Peter’s square yesterday made me stronger. In a shattered world standing with thousands all fuelled by love and hope was over whelming and simple. We arrived and left gently. No fanfares. No hawkers selling goods. No flummery. We were there and that was enough.

I love this beautiful piece in @boundlessmagazine.bsky.social so much. About damage and healing and summer fruit — and what a picture of Signe and her grandpa! 🇳🇴 🍓🫐

Let's just say I'm pretty thrilled to be hosting this... 🙂

I second this ~

William Styron wrote a novel about a situation like this Can’t remember who the bad guys were, help me out here

This is how you do this, if it’s your job to do it. Great piece. So thoughtful.

Luscious cuisine! Political intrigue! What more could you want? A piece by the guy who wrote the book the series was made from, that's one. Subscribe to @boundlessmagazine.bsky.social and hear of Ian Kelly's adventures with the first celebrity chef... www.boundlessmagazine.com/p/in-bed-wit...

This is really great. I love the synesthesia of it — and agree that considering your emotions/feelings is a skill to be developed.

Love this piece about the history of how we look at clouds… both sides now… 🎶

“And I’m like, what do you mean, you ‘do your own research’? You running a double-blind study in your living room, dawg?” - A guy walking ahead of me with his friends on a NYC sidewalk in 2021, also my favorite overheard dialogue of the entire pandemic

Oh sure but when I pitch that column idea it’s ’upsetting your colleagues’ and ‘a bit weird that you keep bringing that up every week’

Fellow authors, I love you, and I know it feels like we don’t have a choice, but B&N and Am*zon both scheduled sales this week to preempt Independent Bookstore Day, a hugely vital source of income for indie bookstores. Please don’t promote their sales; please promote your local indie this week.

Thoughtful and useful piece; including a necessary interrogation of the term 'Luddite'...

Loved this conversation with @sadianowshin.bsky.social ! What books were your teenage go-tos?
