Word is Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 will get a second printing! Thanks to everyone who picked it up yesterday! Eric Gapstur, Jim Campbell, Joe Caramagna and I had a blast doing it. BTW it’s not entirely a prequel…there’s a time jump in episode 1 of the show, and we fill it in.

When I was 12, I got a letter printed in Impulse #16, but because my grocery store only got a couple issues, I didn’t find out until a few years ago when a fan sent it to me. Big thanks to my pal @philhester.bsky.social who tracked down a copy for Mark Waid to sign for me at a recent show!

The highlight of working on Jackpot for me was drawing the character of the first comic book I ever read. He only appeared on one page, and because I’m a god damn professional I fought the urge to turn that last panel into a 3/4 splash of Spidey swinging toward the viewer.

I still do all my work traditionally, and at 41 have developed a pretty good sense of what I like. I tried a new paper with the first 5 or so pages of Jackpot, but it was so white it made the gouache I use for effects and (many) mistakes look yellow.
