We had an absolutely fantastic time at our social yesterday! Thank you all for coming. Big shoutout to the new volunteers who came out excited to find out how to get involved! There is still so much to do to build more homes in more neighbourhoods in Toronto. Let's get to it!

It’s hard to emphasize how asleep at the wheel Ontario is on housing right now. I realize I’m not the most popular guy among PCs, but I hope Minister Rob Flack takes this seriously. Housing prices have been flat. But inventory is building and sales are historically slow. (1/X) 👇

This but we call it Lombardi Liberalism 💅

“For too long, Canada has coasted on past success, believing our place in the world was secure. It is not.” “The stakes are high. The road ahead is hard. But the competition is real. And that is cause for hope.” thehub.ca/2025/02/19/e...

Can “Canada can still function as a nation capable of governing itself effectively under immense pressure. The greatest obstacle to national renewal is not Washington. It is Canada’s dysfunctional provinces.” thehub.ca/2025/02/19/e...

Read my latest for The Hub. “A competitive race between Poilievre and Carney for prime minister is a gift. It forces them and us to be better.“ thehub.ca/2025/02/19/e...

I try not to give attention to the other place, but this one deserves it 👏 @ericlombardi.bsky.social #Canada

“Facing Trump’s hostility with moral indignation might feel good, but it won’t solve anything. Yes, we may need retaliatory tariffs to show the White House that stupidity has a price, but those alone won’t mend our own self-inflicted problems.”

My latest for @thehubcanada.bsky.social Today is the last day for candidates to join the race to lead the Liberal Party and become our next Prime Minister. I wrote the launch speech I wish Carney or Freeland would have given at this serious moment for Canada. thehub.ca/2025/01/23/e...

Hilarious to suggest that the contributions of More Neighbours Toronto, where I am a board member, are not useful, while he proceeds to incorrectly describe what life is like for high-rise residents like me in my own neighbourhood. Thank goodness he's here to explain elevators to little ol' me.

Needs another story and two more units!

Big thank you to everyone who attended my lecture on “How Toronto’s Housing Crisis Ends” with @moreneighboursto.bsky.social Thank you to The Toronto Society and the Viaduct Lecture series for organizing!

A really interesting talk today by @ericlombardi.bsky.social on how to fix Toronto's housing crisis. His top ideas: 1️⃣ - Lower taxes 2️⃣ - Allow way more kinds of buildings in ALL parts of the city 3️⃣ - Build baby build Thanks for the invite @anotherglassbox.bsky.social!

Playing around with a couple of @ericlombardi.bsky.social's ideas on 1) Public Realm & 3) Street Life and Transit & Mobility. Not even close to finishing, but I wanted to see what it might look like mapped out. This is going to be fun. More to come. Thx @felt.com felt.com/map/IdeasAtW...

Agree 100% with every point Eric makes. What a wonderful city we'd have. Unfortunately, the current council does not have the spine or vision. It's up to us to pressure this council to start making these suggestions a reality.

What a difference a few months and a little bit of framing makes. Condo vacancy rates that were once portrayed negatively have turned into lower rents. There is still work to do, but more supply lowers rents - yes, even in those evil condos. www.thestar.com/real-estate/...

I know folks on this platform are going to hate me for saying it, but you should watch Pierre Poilievre’s interview with Jordan Peterson. You don’t need to like either of them. But you if you don’t try to understand why he’s winning, you’ll never beat him.

Small towns take note, many of these ideas can be implemented province-wide just at a different scale.

Yes please! #Toronto

Yonge has so much potential. Church street is born for this. We did it in the 1970s. Voting for whoever offers the Montreal-ification of Toronto summer.

All of these please

Interesting ideas from @ericlombardi.bsky.social, but there's one more that is missing. BRING BACK OPEN STREETS TO!!!!! It's infuriating how Toronto failed to do this on a single Sunday in 2023 and 2024 despite it - and #ActiveTO - being very well received. #BikeTO #WalkTO #TOpoli #VisionZero
