Got ‘em

Almost started building a Nuxt flashcard/spaced repetition program, then I tried Anki for the first time which is... kind of amazing.

Sleepy babies are simply the best.

First time listening into the space station! Signal stick on my metal roof in florida with a simple baofeng uv-5r. What a fun experience. Lost contact in south florida around 12:33 EST.

I think even this summary doesn’t get the point across. Grants are basically buying services for the people of the United States. Sure, they may be a little less profit defined at times, but there are usually rigorous outcomes defined. This is how we get new medicines and technology and research.

Using the free Severance Apple TV weekend to watch Bad Monkey because South Florida/Keys/Bahamas.

I used this page today as a 35 year old American. The government can be good, actually.

All these goobers posting airplanes and stars thinking they’re drones made me realize that if there was social media 500 years ago, a bunch of people would have been sharing pictures labeled “omg a mermaid” with community notes like “that’s a rock” and “manatee.”

Who's working FT8 on 20m right now? Any cool stations I should be on the lookout for? #hamradio

What the fuck is this YouTube ad selling replica firearms that shoot rubber bullets? Straight garbage. Can’t look up radios or outdoor stuff without being thrown into the bucket that gets you all the “patriot” toilet paper and prepper nonsense ads.

Electronics folks: Is a usb-C soldering iron (pine64) workable? I can’t decide between that and a Harbor Freight starter kit to start building amateur radio antennas (so not super detail work).

Hey @wesbos.com didn’t you have a usb-C soldering iron you liked? Is it the Pine64? I can’t decide between that and a Harbor Freight starter kit to start building amateur radio antennas (so not super detail work).

OpenAI go rrrrrrrr

I hope @theonion.com ‘s next distressed asset purchase is all of 23 and Me’s data.

Made my first few FT8 contacts on 20m tonight. Icom 7100, 40% power, inverted vee speaker wire antenna hanging off my porch. One in Minnesota, one in Mexico City, from South Florida. A little anticlimactic, but nothing burnt up! Next time will be better I’m sure!

The dog is simply, comfortably handsome.

Making a lot of trips to Miami for our OB appointments these days, and I can always tell which podcasts were downloaded on the trip because all my dynamically inserted ads are in espańol. Which I love because while I do speak un poco + free practice, I love wasted marketing dollars more.

The paradise tree is coming along nicely!

Clearly the “govt is good, actually” is a nonstarter. We need to 1.) humanize govt workers (your hard working neighbor) and 2.) be extremely clear about the first order benefits that people are getting from their tax dollars. National parks are a great example, national weather service is another.

Okay ham radio is crazy. $1200 radio? Power supply that only gives that *clean* power but costs >$200? Now throw this old $3 spool of wire from a garage sale over that tree branch and talk to Mozambique from Iowa.

A blocklist for anyone that talks about follower numbers.

Yeah this is actually a really great list. Quite a few, you know, left media folks if you don’t want that, but otherwise probably the best “left twitter want to get started but don’t want a single topic list”-list.
