oung scholars need to know that it's a waste of time to format for the journal. It's a slight signal that you think it has a good chance of acceptance, but more a signal that you're inexperienced at submitting papers.

What leftwing organization is behind the No Kings movement? It is amusing that the AP says, The “No Kings” theme was orchestrated by the 50501 Movement, a national movement made up of everyday Americans who stand for democracy apnews.com/article/no-k...

On Bluesky I have 300 followers, but very little engagement. Possibly I am throttled, as I suspect I am on Twitter/X, where my engagement even with 5,000 followers is disappointing. Does anybody want me to continue posting on Bluesky?

Maybe if we required opinions to be read out loud by the Justice, including the footnotes, we'd get shorter opinions.

Many evangelicals, under the excuse of trying to avoid pride, avoid achieving anything of which they might be proud.

Is protesting the war in Gaza anti-semitism, or simply a policy stance? Consider accusations that Jews poisoned wells and caused the Black Death. www.pennpress.org/978081225361... . We call that anti-semitism. But was it hostility not to Jews, but to people who poison wells?

I just tried asking ChatGPT why Provost Lauren Robel failed to get the job of President of Indiana University, since there were rumors. ChatGPT says it was me. No wonder she wanted me investigated and punished!

🚨 BlackRock, Vanguard & State Street are being sued for allegedly colluding to cut coal output via ESG. The case tests the common ownership theory and a win "would embolden and encourage others to bring similar lawsuits." Big case. Big implications. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

This week's Substack describes who has the legal power in public universities, Indiana University in particular. It's the Board of Trustees, not the faculty. ericrasmusen.substack.com/p/who-owns-i...

Edward Feser Patrick J. Buchanan: “ I met the troopers of the 18th Cavalry who had come to save the city of Los Angeles… . .. the mob retreated because it had met the one thing that could stop it: force, rooted in justice, (Address to the 1992 Republican National Convention)

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. James 1: 26 For texting: If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his thumb, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

From sermon on James 1:23: 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: We look at a mirror not to see ourselves exactly, but to see how we compare with the ideal me, the me whose hair is combed.

Today, it's 120 years since the Norwegian parliament unanimously declared independence from Sweden: The government had resigned and when the Swedish King was unable to find a new one, the parliament "fired" him for being unable to do his duties as a Norwegian King. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissolu...

I was just daydreaming about being the advisor to an important person with a difficult personality (no, not him, or him either). I thought a social meeting at the start would help, maybe playing cards over beers. Question: what game would be good for that (multi-person is OK).

Today's Substack is even spicier than usual, despite having large chunks of legal text in it. I name names and say who should be fired by Governor DeSantis. ericrasmusen.substack.com/p/fire-the-w...

Corporate law question for a substack I'm writing: Can the bylaws of a corporation require a 2/3 vote to be amended, instead of a majority vote? Can they require unanimity? Can they require that all but one director vote for the amendment? The U of Florida has a 2/3 rule.

Literal leaded fuel emissions > new housing even when average rent is $4,000/month and "the city has permitted roughly 4,500 units of new housing in the last 20 years"
