A dogmatic adherence to "being balanced" in my opinion makes someone's journalism much less useful. Someone I really respect once told me that journalists need to be biased towards the truth. I try to remember that whenever I'm working on something.

happy to see people discover a structural issue with the format of call-in shows in real time: not all opinions are good and broadcasting some of them without being equipped to challenge them effectively can be damaging to discourse.

I screened calls on an episode of checkup about the US election in 2016 and although most people were quite worried, I took a few calls that were like "trump is good, ok bye." Thoughts and prayers for the temps answering calls on this one trying to find opposing viewpoints worth airing.

People are talking about the Four Nations Cup like it was a masterful marketing move by the NHL but I think they were very lucky. I don't think the public was paying attention to the tournament until they heard the fans in Montreal booing the national anthem. The politics made it compelling.

I had a moment yesterday where a journalist I really admire shared a story I published. During my job interview I was asked if I looked up to anyone in the industry, and I mentioned them. It's pretty wild to think that we're colleagues now.

Speaking from experience, I have never had a time on a subway anywhere near as scary as that time first responders had to get me out of a car with the jaws of life while I went in and out of consciousness. Nothing comes close.

I'm pretty sure PK's last shift for the Habs was spent getting injured by Alexei Emelin's butt. He was traded shortly after and I'm sure that was incredibly disappointing. "Trizzy train" is Subban fan's Emelin butt moment
