The Minecraft movie was exactly the kind of campy fun I was expecting. Completely dumb and full of YouTubers and memes (and kids in the audience singing along to the musical segments). It's not winning any Oscars, but the kids enjoyed it, and that's really all I was looking for.

Black Vans (my Deviant Storyteller's Guide) is now in the hands of the editor, so now I write more conspiracies for the as-yet-unnamed Night Horrors book for a few weeks while @bjohnsonfreelance.bsky.social is finding all the dumb mistakes and hilarious typos that have crept in over several drafts.

I just reread Assorted Crisis Events #2, and I found it striking how much it contrasted #1. Some spoilers ahead for both issues. 1/ @denizcamp.bsky.social @ericxyz.bsky.social

I must have betrayed my excitement at getting to see Babymetal and Bloodywood in concert in July, because now both kids are trying to convince me to take them with me. This sounds like a lot of fun but also a lot of work (and a decent bit of cash).

Assorted Crisis Events #2 is out, it's excellent, and I'll share some thoughts about it later (I think I really need to read it again before I do, because it's a LOT). However, I'm not the Eric Zawadzki who illustrated it. Credit where credit is due, that's @ericxyz.bsky.social. šŸ™‚

I know everyone's having a good chuckle at the idea of a Pope Pizzaballa, but of course he would choose a completely different papal name if he accepted the Fisherman's Ring. And he has indicated that it would be Pope Boyardee.

People are right to protest this. Wrestlemania should have never allowed Pope Francis to wrestle Pete Hegseth.

I got to know a trans couple in my local sci-fi convention scene, and they were just fellow nerds - nothing mysterious or scary about them. 1/

Tag yourself. I'm - ā€œI get regular gigs, but I’m not good enough to do this full time.ā€

The kids have been accidentally playing Would You Rather: Would you rather be so sick during spring break that you feel like you didn't get a break (but get to go to the sci-fi convention you've been excited about for months), or be healthy during break but get too sick to got to the convention?

As someone with many trans friends, I can't understand why anyone feels threatened enough by them to attack their right to exist, much less to throw their money at so unworthy a cause as to bring it to a court to make their nonexistence official. 1/
