Hey remember when I mentioned King County's Best Starts Child Care Worker Wage Boost Pilot? Basically studying what it'd look like for government to invest in a salary increase for child care workers? Here's a write-up in The Seattle Times that dives into the ins-and-outs of the Pilot:

Are you a child care worker in King County? You deserve a raise! If your employer applies, your team may get selected to join a King County study that delivers quarterly payments to workers ($2,080 for f/t workers and $1,040 for p/t workers) through 2027.

Annnnd Wilson has authored apologias for the confederacy and spoke to the upsides of slavery. When I went to school at Uni. of Idaho this guy was openly speaking to the concept of taking over a university town to get a foothold for his ideology in the broader culture.

The Seattle Times has expanded its Education Lab to focus on early childhood options. I'm looking forward to reporter Claire Withycombe's work in this area.

There's another wind storm predicted to hit seattle today, and I kid you not, the leaf blowers are out

Very busy morning at SDOT responding to 70+ wind-related service requests. We have shifted duties of most crew personnel to prioritize response to these service requests.

Was wondering why the bomb cyclone didn't even touch our power, and of course it's related to intentional improvements in infrastructure -- ie moving utilities underground. www.capitolhillseattle.com/2024/11/capi...
