How naive. This makes me think of how people of colour and LGBTQ+ folks will say how racism, sexism, etc keeps them preoccupied with proving their humanity in the face of very real, material threats. Reminding US listeners Canadians are nice and we're all pals is not the way to pre-empt this threat.

This. Cross Country Checkup's broadcast is just as appropriate as hosting a joint US-Canada ep exploring the annexation of Washington.
