OMG! HUGE family fave. Rest in peace and power, Iceman! My favorite song of his is "Ain't Understanding Mellow," his duet with Brenda Lee Eager from 1971. My parents and grandparents LOVED this song, and so do my sisters & I. One of the best R&B duets of all time! open.spotify.com/track/1ljRPp...

my most toxic trait is that when a song makes me think of another song it would blend will with, i start quietly singing THE OTHER SONG out loud to see how the rhythms/chord progressions will work i’m sorry i’m like this, i also don’t know how to stop

heard mj’s “the way you make me feel” in the lobby and my brain decided it needed a mashup with outkast’s “the way you move” and now i need to make it

there is something so deeply, deeply weird about hearing sounds and seeing images that you have not once heard or thought about for two decades

one consequence of the way blocking works on here is i have to see a bunch of vague subtweets from factions that are mad at each other without having any way of figuring out what the hell anyone is talking about

current status

i’d play again don’t tempt me

the LOAFERS

try it, AI bros hate it *and* gramma loves it!

to be loved, etc

THIS . Chris Rufo has declared this , they plan it as a wedge issue Deciding it doesn’t matter because your mad and hurt even if you KNOW that person didn’t actually betray you is a choice It is also why high conflict abusive people need to be handled THEY MAKE GREAT INFORMANTS

the briefest possible study of how perverse incentives work would suggest that doing nothing in response to mass non-violent protest out of a fear of potential threatened violence is, at best, a short-term defense (eventually, some of the masses will *also* ignore non-violent protest as a tactic)

If I see you making life difficult for others I will absolutely shame you in public idgaf

AI Narrated Audiobooks? No, thanks I think physical media, despite the space, higher prices, and greater effort required, is swiftly becoming the only option that is acceptable to me 🤷 Digital media is getting less and less and less and less attractive to me tbh

When I watch a YouTube video and it has robonarration, it fails to understand the syntax a lot of the time and so altogether blows the intonation.

I've just finished all the #Discworld audiobooks that Audible produced and... Yeah. No fucking machine can do what Indira Varma, Andy Serkis, Jon Culshaw et al do

I find audiobook narration kind of fascinating - it's clearly a skill related to acting, but it's not quite the same. I've heard great actors be mediocre at narrating books, and vice versa as well.

One of the things I appreciate most about watching Shakespeare is how an actor delivering the lines well can turn text that looks like Ye Olde Tyme Garble that takes concentration to make sense of into just people talking. This is a joke, this is a boast, this is an insult. It all slides into place.

just say "no" to robonarration. much like shakespeare, a major factor in whether or not an audiobook is easy to follow is whether the narrator understands the material, in order to emote and pace it effectively. voice to text doesn't understand nuance.

immediately followed by “we either live in a society or we don’t” and speaking to the core of @weirdlittleguy.bsky.social’s house

“man, i only know like one thing about a LOT OF THINGS” - brennan lee mulligan, with some of the truest shit i’ve ever heard

train is undefeated at making the most vapid supermarket songs you’ve ever heard, with inspiration stories to somehow make them even worse
