Back when Trump was promising "revenge and retribution", I'd said that it would only be a matter of time before he'd require loyalty oaths from anyone associated with the Federal Government. The firings are only the first step. Next will likely be the oaths as part of Federal contracts. Bet on it

In an egregious example of ass-kissing, we have a Congressperson filing legislation to make Trump's birthday and Flag Day a Federal holiday. I can see celebrations consisting of burning Trump flags. I'm also considering sending a comfy cushion to her so she doesn't bruise her knees.

RFK Jr.'s approval by the Senate puts me in mind of good old traditional medicine -- www.youtube.com/watch?v=edIi...

Inflation, gas and food prices climb under Trump. What happened to fixing it on day one? Perhaps he's too busy planning the Trump-branded hotels and casinos he wants to build in Gaza. My column: www.usatoday.com/story/opinio...

With the snow falling upon SoMD, a discussion of appropriate amounts ensued. She Who Must Be Listened To (SWMBLT) opines for a light dusting upon trees and grass. Mine is for 3-4 inches and then have it remain for quite a while. The cats? Since neither goes outside, they couldn't care less.

Supposedly one reason for Trump's proposal to move the Palestinians out of Gaza was an inability to get a responsible government in place. Even if he's not serious (and that's not certain), I could see an argument for electing a shoddy government being a reason for moving Trump voters somewhere

I don't often get hunches but when I do, they're pretty accurate. I'd said before the election that I could see Trump and minions insisting on loyalty oaths for anyone working in or for the Federal Government. Now we've got Patel apparently suggesting the arrest of 'disloyal' employees...

Frankly, I can see his minions emulating Lloyd Bridges' character in Airplane! when he says, "It looks like I picked the wrong week to give up <insert intoxicant here>". Of course, the quality of the minions' explanations suggests that giving up mind-altering chemicals is not a valid option.

As we see the same "explaining" of Trump's utterances by his underlings as we saw during the first administration, there should be some sympathy for those underlings who chase a moving target that changes when someone new manages to get his attention. I'd have some sympathy but they asked for it.

I'm anticipating quite a few of the 6 January rioters being arrested for violent and hateful actions - and who will then try to somehow extend Trump's pardon to anything they do (presuming that the pardon was just for events leading up to and including the attempt to disrupt the legal process.

Now that Glorious Leader has a corps of thugs and hooligans personally beholden to him, I can imagine some of these people engaging in a filibuster action because, well, that's what Glorious Leader would want. Said action to then be followed by US regular military swooping in to remove the invaders

Upon hearing about the mass pardons of 6 January 2021 rioters, I was reminded of the Freikorps or Romania's Iron Guard last century. A body of known thugs and criminals personally beholden to leaders with occasional free rein to attack opponents could soon be out on the streets awaiting orders.

2/ Instead, we're seeing his supporters being frozen out (so to speak) unless they get in his follow-up rally - for which they'll likely have to pay rather than using the complimentary tickets handed out for the earlier events. Oh, excuse me, the Trump people say those tickets are "commemorative".

1/Not for a New York minute do i believe the whole "we're thinking of our minions', ah, supporters' health and well being" bit. If they'd said (and lied) something along the lines that Mr. Trump may be coming down with something and being outside in the cold isn't recommended, I could go with that.

It's so nice that Trump was thinking of his followers' health by moving the swearing-in ceremony to the Capitol Rotunda. Certainly couldn't have been trying to avoid the embarrassment of his first inauguration with all those people not attending. Expect photos to be slanted to show a lot of people

For those who want options for next Monday, the National Park Service is apparently having a free admission day on that day. Go out and enjoy something life-affirming, healthy and invigorating.

Witness Gabbard's apparently saying that she'll pick up on what the Director of National Intelligence does once she's in place. High-level Government positions shouldn't be On-The-Job training seminars no matter that appears to have been Trump's experience on the first go-round

There must be a lot of conservative military, industry and political persons with the experience and knowledge to competently fill Cabinet and other posts. People with whom I might disagree but would recognize their capabilities. Yet Trump fails to pick these "best" people and going for sycophants

Gosh darn that Biden! He just took away another opportunity for Trump to name something after himself - l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http...

I have this image of a large banner that says "Impeach Trump Now. Avoid The Rush" displayed in sight of cameras covering next Monday's gathering.

For people concerned about shutting down borders, you'd think Trump, #PresidentMusk, and others would realize that annexing Greenland and the Canal Zone would increase the task. But then he'll be as successful in getting those countries to pay for the defense as he's been with Mexico and the wall

Given Trump's predilection for holding grudges, betcha he'll try something to unseat Barrett because she didn't do what he wanted her to do. Being appointed for life tends to remove some obligations as in, "I'm here and I'm not leaving. Neener, neener, neener."

Re: SCOTUS refusing Trump's "I put you there, so you owe me" bit - I'm not sure if I've seen anything about that wuss Chief Justice voting with those women. If anything, it's the MAGA crowd confirming that Barrett was one of the ones intended to back Trump no matter what he did.

Trump's latest temper tantrum about the flags being at half-staff for the legally amount of time to honor former President Carter is another example that it all has to be about him. Not the Flag Code, not the courts of law, not even simple courtesy towards others - just "pay attention to me, NOW!"

Prior to selection of Johnson as House Speaker, I'd said that the far-right knives would only remain sheathed until he did something, oh, bipartisan. Silly me. Immediately after his selection, members of the Freedom Caucus sent a message essentially saying, "Your ass is ours, boy."

For other options for the 20th, US National Parks is apparently having free admission day at the same time. Good chance to go out and see the parks - before Trump, #PresidentMusk, and their minions sell them off.

Re: the disappointment of OG MAGA with Trump seeming to listen more to #PresidentMusk rather than the true believers (as exemplified by Loomer and Bannon, gods help us). When will they learn that Trump pays more attention to those that can drop seven-figure "donations" into his coffers?

Any bets Trump will whine about the spate of commutations issued by Biden? "Darn it, now what am I going to give #PresidentMusk now on his ascent to power? I was really hoping for a nice execution as the answer to what do you give to such a paragon as he?"

Trump going on about #PresidentMusk not being able to be President. Hey, that's OK. Trump can be head of state with #PresidentMusk being head of government. That's how it's starting to look anyway.

Heads-up - I will be using #PresidentMusk from now on to reflect his role in the upcoming Administration. In part, this is similar to the "Fuck Hoover" people supposedly used upon using the phone during the period of prevalent (and often unjustified) wiretapping

Picked up four more rando followers - none of which is recognizable to me. Could be interesting to see how researchers may be able to pick up patterns in how the randos migrate/spawn to Bluesky.
