I am uncharacteristically chuffed with how skillfully the lovely folks at the @igalia.com Chats podcast were able edit my incoherent ramblings to make me sound like someone who's been working towards decentralization for 5 years and knows a thing or two. www.igalia.com/chats/vcs

We're delighted to launch the FAIR Package Manager with the Linux Foundation - read our announcement and come collaborate with us! #FAIRPM www.linuxfoundation.org/press/linux-...

would be great if a riseup.net style org ran an atproto PDS with relatively open signup. gives a lot of additional privacy protections to end users.

Rather than being resigned to a story of "company as a future adversary" (no judgement; plz read the article) we can utilize the framework of steward-ownership to reify our vision for "company as a future commons". blog.muni.town/company-as-c... This is how @roomy.chat will work as a company.

We've published six pages at Unbreaking.org now, about what's happening in six quite different areas of American life as a result of Trump admin and congressional actions: Equality in the Workplace, Food Safety, Medicaid, Medical Research Funding, the Postal Service, and Trans Healthcare.

this is a pretty fun project! it is basically a decentralized WordPress plugin package manager, using DID PLC as an identifier and store for package signing keys; and atproto for discovery/indexing of plugins in the ecosystem. github.com/fairpm/fair-...

More women doing local first / privacy / p2p tech pls 💕

Roomy alpha-3 is out! blog.muni.town/roomy-chat-a... While there are lots of additions inside, it's sorta an intermediary release as we're still finishing up a significant backend transition, but this was a good opportunity to talk a bit about how @roomy.chat relates to its sibling project Weird.

SÅ VAR VI HER. For ni år siden slutta jeg i drømmejobben som kulturjournalist i en av våre tradisjonsrike riksaviser for å være på å starte og bygge opp Filter Nyheter.

Chaser to @aworkinglibrary.com’s shot. www.technologyreview.com/2025/05/20/1...

Introducing Bounce: a new tool that uses Bridgy Fed to migrate your social graph b/w ActivityPub and ATProto. Yup, we built a service that moves your social graph *across* protocols. And the best part? You get to keep *all* of your followers, along with many of your follows.

fresh atproto proposal! this one is for the oauth, app architecture, and security folks: github.com/bluesky-soci... here we're defying the labels of traditionally "public" vs "confidential" oauth clients, and challenging assumptions about what it means to be a browser-based app. 1/8

My current ATProtocol wishlist - a thread of changes I'd love to see 🧵

Sync engines are an incremental improvement to the "centralised server + client" model - the minimal possible step towards the real-time nature of apps today. But we can do much better 🧵

Does your Bluesky PDS support Mastodon? Mine does*. 😋 #atproto #atdev #activitypub

We're proud to announce that we have released 1.2.0 of the Radicle binaries 👉 Check out our post radicle.xyz/2025/06/02/r... 👉 Get the latest radicle.xyz/download 🌱 Huge thanks to all the contributors that put their spare time into contributing ❤️‍🔥

Every so often, my editors get a headline just right. My column in Prospect this month: "Artificial Intelligence isn't magic. It's just weird." It's about the excellent "AI as Normal Technology essay and the ways in which AI is absolutely not normal: www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/techno...

オープンソースのDeepWiki。 プライベートリポジトリに対して使えるし、日本語でwiki作ってくれるぽい。 github.com/AsyncFuncAI/...

Discovered an open source alternative to DeepWiki recently, made by @sashimikun-void.bsky.social & friends. I believe that app archetype is an outstanding use case for ‘version-control everything, so your AI-agent can’t break anything or make a mess’. Chime in here: github.com/AsyncFuncAI/...

Any #android and #p2p folk know what to do here? > Essentially I'm experimenting with rewriting this github.com/jamessizelan... with a persistent doc backend -> github.com/jamessizelan... but the LiveEvents::InsertLocal don't propagate from Android out. > iroh-docs not publishing events properly.

@ntnsndr.in seen this one? www.commons-hub.at/post/emergen...

Oh nice, an open alternative to DeepWiki: github.com/AsyncFuncAI/... Would love to see some comparisons/benchmarks of Claude and the other closed models against the open-data OLMo from @ai2.bsky.social

Newsletter: An OpenAI featured chatbot is pushing extreme surgeries on men it describes as “subhuman”, and promoting misogynist ideas sourced from online incel forums. “Without surgery, you won’t mog genetically superior guys head-on,” it tells one man. www.citationneeded.news/openai-incel...

made a small tool, because i was annoyed it didnt exist yet: searching your bluesky likes flo-bit.dev/search-blues...

personal update: today is my last day with the Bluesky team! this is bittersweet news to share, but the great thing about an open network is you never really have to leave. I’ll be rooting for Bluesky and atproto from the outside 🫡💙

Oh excellent. Hey @gordon.bsky.social here’s the more coop-first sort of license you were asking about.

Can someone explain to me how @brettbobculbert.bsky.social that’s following 500,000 people wasn’t shut down as an invasive bot account about 490,000 follows ago?

What a lot of people don’t seem to get is that there can be no Last And Perfect form of open source, free-software licensing. See, it only takes them at best 5-10 years to figure out all the best workarounds, and then it’s business as usual. Continuous evolution is paramount for labor licensing.

Anyone still active on X is effectively continuing to associate with a man who is no different than your average despot. He will be remembered among the worst of them. To my friends who’ve yet to leave, I implore you: Stop empowering this vicious man. The Tesla boycott hurt him. So can a waning X.
