Finally.

To where pray tell? A rather defining feature of refugee camps is the lack of options for people to go anywhere else. So, in effect, Israel has just forcibly displaced tens of thousands of people who have absolutely nowhere realistically to go. That seems worth mentioning www.bbc.com/news/article...

These haven't been 'temporary' refugees in these camps. Many will have been multi-generational families who have been contained within these camps by the Israelis for decades. Who have to go through multiple checkpoints daily for everyday life. And now even that has been taken from them #Palestine

South Africa to make big tech actually pay for monetisng other peoples' content. South Africa really is a country with good ideas.

One of the voices from my childhood in front of the radio that made me fall in love with music. Thank you for all the beautiful songs.

BREAKING: DAWN has filed a historic ICC referral urging an investigation into Biden, Blinken, and Austin for their complicity in Israeli war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. #ICC #Gaza #Accountability Read more: dawnmena.org/internationa...

Dear manager, This week I: 1. Tumbled out of bed 2. Stumbled to the kitchen 3. Poured myself a cup of ambition 4. Yawned and stretched. 5. Tried to come to life. It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it.

"Suspends release" = violates terms of cease fire. Say it! Funny how this doesn't seem to be the major, headlining news it should be. It certainly would have been had Hamas been the side "suspending release". www.theguardian.com/world/2025/f...

Here’s the more accurate headline @nytimes.com: “Israel Violates Ceasefire Agreement After Hamas Frees 6 Hostages”

Israel has dropped leaflets over Gaza, urging Palestinians to cooperate with it or face “forced displacement”, adding that “the world map will not change if all the people of Gaza cease to exist”.

The former foreign minister of South Africa suggests Trumps actions against her country may have more to do with the case SA has brought against Israel at the ICJ rather than anything else. Yep!

Thank you Noura Erakat for this powerful piece that gets to the heart of our responsibility. Fighting for justice where we are requires us to understand that US support of Israeli apartheid and genocide helped lay the groundwork for this authoritarian rise. www.bostonreview.net/articles/the...

My "what if" moment today as I was remembering the days of glasnost and perestroika. What if there had been no Davos Pact and Zyuganov had won the run-off election rather than Yelstsin, and therefore no Putin... Would we have been better or worse off today? Who knows. www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4Rj...

Premier medical journal The Lancet published a recent study showing that due to the IDF’s mass murder campaign, life expectancy in Gaza dropped by a full 30 years

"The only democracy in the Middle East", innocent, nothing to hide... right?

⚡️Five Israel military reservists have been indicted for the torture of a Palestinian held at Sde Teiman prison. Read the description of their actions from the Israeli indictment and remember the riots staged by Israelis supporting the soldiers who raped the Palestinian man. 🔽

The concept, the construction, the delivery... this video is 13 years old and I still find I hold my breath every time I watch it. We'll never learn, will we? www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD_p...

Insightful article on migration within Africa and the xenophobia crisis in South Africa. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/18/o...

A brutal annexation in progress.

I couldn't have found a better way to spend an unexpected free hour this morning than with this introspective and sincere disussion between Aziz Younis, a Palestinian-South African journalist, and South African activist, author and academic Marthie Momberg. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeUV...

"... you can only imagine the severe implications of this delivery." - Mike Burnard, Analytical Strategist – dia-LOGOS (The explosive power of these bombs is roughly equivalent to a quarter of the atomic bomb that destroyed Hiroshima.)

"For Finkelstein, a Jew and the son of Holocaust survivors, the South African submissions to the ICJ have been beyond reproach — which is why the ‘dirty tricks’ campaign is only going to get worse." www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2025...

A definitive read. The comparisons with Turkey, Hungary, Venezuela etc are sobering.

A white man massacres people with immigrant backgrounds. "Lone wolf, may or may not have had political motive, etc." You know the drill. And shockingly little global media attention.

Whether you agree with him or not, Richard Poplak, with his inimitable style, is always a must-read for me.

So Hamas is committed to the agreed ceasefire & Israel & the US are ripping it up. Its clear that Israel, with the backing of the United States, wants to resume its genocide. #GMB

Nine paragraphs into today's NYT story on the situation with the Gaza ceasefire, readers are informed that Israeli officials and international mediators "said that Hamas’s claims were accurate."

No Other Land has been named Documentary of the Year at the London Critics’ Circle Film Awards. This film made by a Palestinian-Israeli collective shows the destruction of the occupied West Bank's Masafer Yatta.

This has made my day. 😂

The only way I can interpret the GOP's actions is that they are 100% certain they will never face another democratic election again. They hit the shore and burned their ships.

How Israel is violating the terms of the ceasefire: By now Israel should have allowed 12,000 aid trucks to enter Gaza. They've let in 8,500. 50 fuel trucks should be allowed into Gaza every day. Israel have let in 15 fuel trucks each day

They are already claiming legislative power; next they will attack any parts of the judiciary that dares disagree with them.

USians who still believe the courts will save them are in for a big shock.

Rich white people want to return to the days when they ring fenced the best jobs for their friends They've convinced poor people that getting rid of diversity, equity and inclusion is about 'jobs on merit' It's nothing of the sort. Those doors will shut on you too. Guaranteed. DEI is 💯 necessary

😂😂

Good analysis by Dr Oscar Van Heerden. I like his analogy of the USA being in "Business Rescue". www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU-p...

‼️And he found fertile ground for those beliefs in the USA. They need to own him.

Excellent thread. Long, but worth sitting with for a while.

As a South African who has spent 2 decades in the Middle East, I recognize that feeling in the pit of my stomache when the US starts giving off "regime change time" vibes. South Africans should not take the bait which is aimed at stirring up racial tensions.
