I may have gotten a little animated this morning when discussing on The Rundown on @totcshow.bsky.social why the #Worcester City Manager should re-appoint the Chair and Vice Chair of the Human Rights Commission. Let me explain. Short 🧵

Last night I expressed my desire for the Chair and Vs. Chair of the Human Rights Commission to be re-instated and continue the important work they’ve been doing. I expressed my hope that the CM re-considers his decision. It matters.

Omg. Let the 🐔s be.

This is one of the very few commissions that has executive power & authority. It isn’t an advisory board. It has specific powers, which they have tried to exercise.

This is today! As a reminder, I have asked the City to present two ordinances: 1. Tree reform 2. Minimim Parking Requirements. I'll be there for part of this is. It's a super important conversation. I hope folks can attend.

Worcester County receives $11 mill in homelessness grants. Most of this $ supports Worcester housing & homelessness services. If this goes away, our homelessness response collapses entirely. We’re not listed in this lawsuit. But, we’re not safe. No one is. I’ll keep sounding the alarm.

It’s not lost on me that telling a female councilor “you have two min” to speak, as a male councilor, is so friggin disrespectful. Why don’t you also suggest I sit with my hands folded neatly on my lap, ask for permission to speak, and wear an apron when coming to Council.

There is no reform without community moving it. Pushing it. Debating it. Challenging, grappling with it, and pushing the envelope. W/out this, there is the tiniest incremental steps. Steps nevertheless. But not leaps towards a transformative change that allows us to

I’m approaching 45 in a week or so. I have more gray hairs. I feel quite confident my older teen one-word responses are only temporary. I am more comfortable shooting dirty looks back, when necessary & I really think I’m entering the best time of my life.

This race will be very competitive. Negative campaigning has already started & we anticipate significant PAC contributions behind my opponent's campaign. I'll be counting on your support for hosting backyard fundraisers, assisting with phone banks & connecting with our neighbors door-to-door.

Let’s go!

Really?? It’s a life-saving strategy! We literally depend on it to keep people alive. Opioid deaths have decreased steadily. Why would you take this away now? While your colleagues are also cutting Medicaid- the only health insurance program that covers folks in the throes of addiction.

Damn @neslusan.bsky.social speech made me tear up. 😭😭

Excited to celebrate @neslusan.bsky.social Kelly Turley and Andrea Park with @progressivemass.bsky.social tonight! Congratulations to all three and also to all other honorees.

The 35th Earth Day Clean Up is still on!! I’ll be heading the one at Beaverbrook Parkway and Maywood location. It’s ☔️ but we’ll keep at it as much as we can 🙌

Many homeless families will be out as they receive their “you’re out of here” letters. Their options? $3000 rent & a subsidy that won’t stretch more than a year. Overcrowding w/ other families. Sleeping in cars or crappy places.

What a great feature of our Council Aide, Aidan Giasson, who does amazing work for our City Council office and the City. Proud of you Aidan! www.worcestermag.com/story/lifest...

By the way, if these students lived in the District I represent, I'd be there in a heart beat. But, my congressman is on it. As he always is! Special thank you to @repmcgovern.bsky.social

Thank you SOO much @markey.senate.gov @pressley.house.gov @repmcgovern.bsky.social for traveling to Louisiana to meet with Rumeysa Ozturk and Mahmoud Khalil and demand their release. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Trump is sending a Russian scientist who created a breakthrough cancer detection microscope back to Putin's Russia. She was a dissident who criticized Putin and now will be in danger.

I see no political delegation demanding release of Khalil and others like him.
