Under Cheetolini, the National Museum of the African American will host showings of "Birth of a Nation" and "Song of the South."

Spooky books by trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming BIPOC authors

Finished off the month with this enchanting collection by @ethereallad.bsky.social.

It was a pleasure to be a co-judge for the LA Times Book Prizes (SF/F genre). Congratulations to all of the finalists! events.latimes.com/festivalofbo...

Book 27: A Spectral Hue by Craig Laurance Gidney. Print. 213 pages. Cover design by Matthew Revert.

I like reading about dystopias. Never thought I'd live in one.

If you're like me and can't get enough of cocteau twins but already have their entire discography, check out Autumn's Grey Solace

Feeling very grumpy about the void here so l've channeled that into a list of weird or weird-ish or weird-adjacent or theoretically-weird collections by Black authors (some of which I’ve read and too many of which I have not)

I said this all through the first term, all through Mueller, all through impeachment, Jack Smith, all through all of it: It only stops when the handcuffs come out.

All of these billionaires are connected to the neoreactionary/ Dark Enlightenment movement. They want a CEO -Monarch in charge of everything. I call it the Dork Enlightenment

Also, speaking of Tanith Lee -- Storyteller: the Tanith Lee Tribute anthology is up for preorder: tanithleestoryteller.com Edited by Julie C. Day with Carina Bissett and Craig Laurance Gidney

An interview with Tanith Lee from Locus Magazine, 1998. I absolutely loved her work, especially its ahead of its time discussion of gender as at times fluid or shifting and never essentialist or simple. www.locusmag.com/1998/Issues/...

I remember sitting next to Tanith for a group author signing at Eastercon, with NG, China Mievelle, Charlie Stross and Geoff Ryman (who invited me to sit next to him). Lee was friendly to the other authors and noticeably chilly to NG.

Just signed a contract for a project. Information forthcoming!

Ginger cake for Thanksgiving

In light of recent events (I'm on a reader's block) this was my autumn tbr that I don't feel able to complete now. I had been planning it all year. In case anyone wants recommendations for the season here they are in a pretty format and all

Returning from #Philcon. Managed to sell a copy of A SPECTRAL HUE

In our quest to bring you the best in contemporary weird fiction, few titles have had the lasting impact and influence of John Langan’s Bram Stoker Award-winning novel, The Fisherman, which Word Horde published in 2016.

I really think the average non-author person has no idea whatsoever how little the vast majority of writers make and how much we depend on every single sale Sometimes it feels like they don’t even actually know we exist at all

I enjoyed this queer epic fantasy. It hit all the right notes for me. Non-western world building, beautiful writing, slow burn homoeroticism. Sense of wonder, unique mythic magic and almost experimental frame stories/structures make it literary but it's still full of demons and monsters and gods.

I found a story I wrote and illustrated when I was 10

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Spinoff idea: A cozy series where Heleana Targaryen knits and mutters apocalyptic prophecies. She then gets a dragon and burns the rest of her family.
