45 years ago today. "Nothing will ever beat that," Michaels said. "People say, 'What's your favorite? [sports call]' and I go 'Really?' I mean, I got a top five, but this is one, two, three, four and then number two is number five. Nothing can beat this." www.facebook.com/CBSSports/vi...

Undoubtedly a BS Trump story, but revealing as to Caine's appointment as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. "Trump said that Caine then donned a MAGA cap, and said: “I love you, sir. I think you’re great, sir. I’ll kill for you, sir.”

Canada wins! #fournations

Ex NFL player @chriswarcraft.bsky.social protesting the inclusion of a MAGA acronym in the Huntington Beach library plaque at last night’s council meeting. He was arrested and cited.

“Whoever brings the water, brings the people” (William Mulholland)." Solid introductory read, especially for want-to-be kings who know nothing about California water. Hint: the federal water project does not service SoCal. The book can be tedious in sections if you are unfamiliar with CA geography.

"Reestablishes the long-standing norm that only the President or the Attorney General can speak for the United States when stating an opinion as to what the law is." Yea. Not the norm at all. I get that the country is historically illiterate. But this is what you get when that's the case.

Trump official announces that Trump has signed an executive order claiming that only the president can speak for “what the law is” (This is not how the Constitution works)

All of this — per @ioponomarenko.bsky.social:

Why get elected to Congress & surrender that power? Republicans have a majority-enact these policies through the process intended. It's not like DOGE has institutional knowledge about governance. So you piss off Trump. History will be indifferent to your re-election. It will be harsh to cowardice.

Every Democrat should be saying this every day. Several times each day.

Our country has never been sullied so quickly. Trump, Musk, Vance, RFK, Jr., Bondi, Patel, Hegseth, Gabbard are all grifters. In it for the power, access, & money. We outnumber them. Stand-up, resist, boycott. Self-government requires perseverance. Remember your parents and grandparents during WWII.

"The fact is that Trump is an unpopular president who eked out a razor-thin plurality of the popular vote and whose party holds the slimmest of majorities in the House. So far, he has been able to avoid that inconvenient reality by relying on executive orders." www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

AUSA Hagan Scotten, former clerk for John Roberts, really put some mustard on his resignation letter.

Perfect: "Woke White House bans AP from event over deadnaming the Gulf of Mexico," said Alejandra Caraballo, an instructor at the Harvard Law School Cyberlaw Clinic." l.smartnews.com/p-iPxJP2p/k4...

A path to authoritarian rule [is] what we have seen in the first weeks of the Trump administration. Checks & balances are being destroyed. Laws are being brazenly ignored. A purge of government is underway. Court rulings are under attack. A chilling effect has begun. www.latimes.com/opinion/stor...

Good read. "You can just say: “We’re definitely not going to have a shutdown. We’re just going to make sure ending the wave of criminality stops as part of any deal.” Who could argue with that? Having that be a red line is really the absolute minimum ask." talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/how-i...

This is important. Not because Miller will ever be consistent in his pleadings for presidential power but because it’s a public service to demonstrate to anyone who might entertain a shadow of a doubt that there’s no neutral principle here. He wants power for his guy, full stop.

Lol. Oh boy Plaschke hit it! "I have written 25 Super Bowl prediction columns. I have been wrong 18 times...I’m picking the Eagles in a beatdown, and listen to me, this time I’m right." www.latimes.com/sports/story...
