The EU plans to sketch out its road map to phase out Russian fossil fuels early next month, @bloomberg.com reports. It will explore options to reduce Russian energy imports, including the potential use of quotas or tariffs, as sanctions are a no go, due to opposition from Hungary and Slovakia.

Transposing EU-wide sanctions against Russia into national law could be a way to undercut Orbán’s ability to veto their rollover, a handful of governments think. Others are hesitant to make any moves that could undermine a common front.
