The party of family values will also be responsible for closing rural hospitals if they cut Medicaid and Medicare. It would take only 7 Republicans to step up. Where are you Rs?

"The Revolution Will Not Be Televised."

Read and re-post. The article goes over steps you can take to protect yourself.

Survivance (new word I learned from indigenous peoples).

The thing to do, it seems to me, is to prepare yourself so you can be a rainbow in somebody else's cloud. Somebody who may not look like you. May not call God the same name you call God-if they call God at all. I may not dance your dances or speak your language. But be a blessing ... Maya Angelou

Near Clemson? See you Monday afternoon.

Cutting FDIC, EAP, and NOAA now? Personally I have always enjoyed having clean air and water, getting forecasts of impending storms and having my bank account safe. The federal employees doing these jobs instead of representing waste or fraud are keeping us (and our funds) safe.

Ramadan Mubarak. May this month bring peace, clarity, and a deepened commitment to faith and justice.

This is today everyone. Please avoid buying anything today. What could you do instead that would "feed" you?

Please consider sharing this. I think it would be great if many people used this tool (showing it's something we shouldn't cut).

“Don’t fight the darkness. Don’t even worry about the darkness. Turn on a light and the darkness goes.” - David Lynch How are you turning on the light? I'm going to an Indivisible meeting at Barrett's Place in Pendleton tomorrow 4pm and a Clemson Precinct meeting at 3:30 on Sunday (Kite Hill Brew).

I'm doing this. Will you join me?

Colorado's Rep Brittany Pettersen (D) flew cross-country with her one-month-old to vote against the GOP budget tonight. Dems ended up one vote short. Pettersen was part of an unsuccessful bipartisan push to allow new mothers to vote remotely. #copolitics

Senator Chris Murphy said yesterday that 24% of Americans get their healthcare from Medicaid, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services say that 2/3 of nursing home patients receive Medicaid. Not only will this be hard on seniors and their families...it will also close nursing homes.

Senate Republicans just blocked an effort to end Trump’s sham energy “emergency,” siding with corporate polluters over you, everyday Americans. This order guts clean air & water safeguards, hikes utility bills, & stalls renewable energy—all to benefit billionaires & fossil fuel execs bit.ly/4kjP6Cs

standupforscience.org. Anyone want to organize something in SC? We don't have an event yet.

More info in this latest article, although to be clear what has been terminated is the IPCC Working Group 3 technical support unit and fed travel to next weeks’s meeting where the report chapter outlines are to be approved, after which authors will be solicited.

Have children and teens? Chances are they are worried about climate change. Show them this series: www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...

Despite the cuts in the IRA renewable energy is growing because it is cleaner and getting cheaper all the time. Let's stop burning stuff and build things that make power over many years.

The federal government is not saving money or being more efficient. It is helping billionaires by cutting back IRS employees who do audits.

Good for Ithaca. Here's some lessons learned from a small time. www.npr.org/2025/02/20/n...

On Reddit, federal employees shared their experience. One wrote: “The thing that I can’t get over is that the actual richest man in the world directed my f**king firing. I make $50K a year and work to keep drinking water safe. The richest man in the world decided that was an expense too great”

Firing experienced employees results in business loss. Employees with less experience (or a new inexperienced employee) does the work less well. The federal government is wasting our money by firing experienced people who are among other things keeping our air and water clean and our food safe.

“Most people are mirrors, reflecting the moods and emotions of the times; few are windows, bringing light to bear on the dark corners where troubles fester. The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.” --Sydney Harris

Did you see this superbowl ad? Very good. Thanks Science Moms. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rnf...

"Manufacturing a good enemy is the best way to stay in power.... it has been hard to ignore all the stories about gender-diverse people...that have been spun into false narratives about abusive parents and health care providers, potential assaults in restrooms and the imminent end of women’s sports"

This is worth reading, especially if you go to a church that reads the lectionary tomorrow. A message that fits our world today.

May I be a guard for those who need protection, a guide for those on the path, a boat, a raft, a bridge for those who wish to cross the flood. May I be a lamp in the darkness, a resting place for the weary …. until all beings are freed from sorrow and all are awakened. - Shantideva

But it’s something about the spirit of justice that raises up like a war horse. That horse that stands with its back sunk in and hears that bell-I like to say the ‘bell of freedom.’ And all of a sudden, it becomes straight, and the back becomes stiff. And you become determined all over again.

Resharing this following the latest court ruling. My original open letter to federal employees weighing Elon Musk and Donald Trump's "deferred resignation" offer is here: substack.com/home/post/p-...

Jacobs: It's so funny to me that my colleagues on the other side spent 30 minutes talking about how we don't want unelected bureaucrats making these rules when they're literally allowing a unelected Elon Musk run roughshod over congress' power of the purse

When you do nothing you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better. — Maya Angelou

But today, the invitation is clear: to be ridiculously courageous in love. — Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer

Each of us in our professions need to talk about how the cuts are affecting those we serve or the work we to when we talk to the public.
