All hail the Prince of Darkness.

Happy World Book Day!

"Everyone wants to replicate the success of Fourth Wing, and the only three tools in their arsenals are tropes, smut, and sprayed edges." Jenny, with the knife, in the library.

CO-SIGNED, so hard!

My cynical side says that maybe this is a good practice run for people who don't have a budget and who may find themselves suddenly unemployed in an uber-competitive/tiny job market. Better to practice going without before you *are* actually without through no fault of your own 🤷‍♀️

BOO HISS 🤬 You will take my MMPBs from my cold dead hands!

I started using it this year and so far find it very "meh" - but then, I actually *like* the social part of GR, so ymmv.

The February 2025 #TBRChallenge is "Previously, In Romance" so I chose to read the sequel to my choice from January, LOL. Unfortunately this one was a big letdown in comparison with the first 😑 #romancelandia #booksky www.goodreads.com/review/show/... vintageromancereader.dreamwidth.org/21275.html

For future reference/as needed. I've had decent luck with liquid medicine in a syringe, but I already know Mr B will not tolerate pill pockets.

It's Reading Rainbow Day, in celebration of host @levarburton.bsky.social's birthday! One of the longest-running children's tv shows in American history, Reading Rainbow has introduced generations of children to the wonder of books. Have you watched the show? 💙📚 www.librarything.com/tag/Reading%...

My February 2025 picks from #HarlequinBooks. The month dedicated to celebrating love reaped rewards for me! ❤️ #romancelandia

May your Valentine be as cute as mine ❤️

Wishing a happy Valentine's Day to my friends across the world, and particularly the attractive tabby that I sometimes see gliding through St James' Park

Folks, I don't intend to post about every single horrible thing that's happening at the moment because I'm not a direct news source and also because my mental health has an upper limit. Don't confuse lack of obsessive news updating for lack of concern or lack of personal action. Also, here's a cat.

And the great thing about "coming late" to an author is that sweet, sweet backlist 🤤

February is National Library Lovers' Month. A reminder I keep a not-exhaustive but still somewhat impressive list of romance novels featuring librarians over at my blog wendythesuperlibrarian.blogspot.com/p/librarians... #RomBkBlog #Romancelandia

When I was 25 I was sad I had not written The Great American Novel. At 55, I realize there's no Great American Novel, there are merely the stories I'm the best person to tell. Don't worry about how others see greatness. Work on being the best version of who you are and what you can do in the world.

In addition, there is an excellent Dark Side of the Ring episode about the Von Erichs.

In light of the ongoing news about the national egg shortage, it's important to remember that in 1983, McDonald's just straight up gave away a carton of six "farm fresh" eggs for FREE when you bought a breakfast platter

Headline of the year

'Physics for Cats' is my next collection of science cartoons. It'll be out in the autumn. More details and an excerpt are here: www.drawnandquarterly.com/books/physics-for-cats/

Negative reviews are part of life for an author and when one posts reviews, it's not for the author anyway, it's for one's self and other readers. Write what you felt about the work. If the author goes looking for reviews, it's on them, not you (and the author should not respond to if they do).

Poor Smudgey! Yeah, you only have to experience this once to forever change your cat-caring ways. My family went through this when I was younger, so I watch Mr B like a hawk because I don't want to go through that ever again!!

Strength Training: Myth Vs. Fact theonion.com/strength-tra...

This thread is wild! I mean, I don't cook (I can, I just don't enjoy it enough to do it everyday), I basically eat out of my freezer or my slow cooker, but even that is cheaper than eating out everyday. These people need to stop making excuses for the way they spend their money.
