theeuropeanbarguide.com/a-day-out-in... Delighted to publish our latest Day Out guide around the best pubs and bars in ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ธ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช ! On a wider note, all 19 venues are now fully written up, and profiles ready to view on our guide ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

Calm night for a chat and catch up with mates at Duck & Drake, Leeds ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ One of the old school gig venues ๐ŸŽถ with a strong cask ale selection that are almost always well kept and poured ๐Ÿป

Good news for Londoners and visitors! ๐Ÿ‘‡

Whitelock's, Leeds ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Unusually quiet at a pub most people know for being a pain to get seated. Waiting for a train. The largest city in Europe with no mass transit, which means a 70 minute gap between suburban trains. Well, we know it doesn't have to mean that but lol, it's England๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

A good start to the year for theeuropeanbarguide.com In the past 56 days we've surpassed all of 2024's site traffic ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฅณ Onwards and โฌ†๏ธ

theeuropeanbarguide.com/a-day-out-in... Glad to see we're coming in handy out in Spain! ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Pub 30 minutes from Newcastle with 'warmest welcome' makes best in Europe list www.chroniclelive.co.uk/whats-on/foo... Thanks to @chroniclelive.co.uk for covering our Top 100 Bars in Europe, notably for the region the spectacular Victoria, Durham! ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ

The Ackhorne, York ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ An early visit to a backstreet pub that's emphatically not on the usual tourist trail/ghost trail routes. Bubbling up already since these photos were taken. The house bitter from Half Moon is really good for a contract brew. ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

Necessary Friday beverage at Brownhill & Co, Leeds ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ Tap options and fridge looking sparse by usual standards. A note on the menu says to "bear with us". Must be tough choosing between making it less worth going and losing money. Still, if there's Klosterbrรคu Schwรคrzla, we're happy. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Some info about our next trip! From March 1st we will be in ๐—–๐˜‡๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ฎ ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฟ for 10 days stopping at: Brno, Telฤ, ฤŒeskรฉ Budฤ›jovice, ฤŒeskรฝ Krumlov, Plzeลˆ, Beroun, Karlลกtejn and of course, Prague. While some of those places are well explored, there are always opportunities to find more great bars! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

www.derbyworld.co.uk/lifestyle/fo... Thanks to @derbyworld.co.uk for covering our Top 100 Bars in Europe 2025!

www.pelliclemag.com/home/2025/2/... Some of Pellicle's most enjoyable writing is about an author's connection to a particular pub. The Rutland Arms, Sheffield ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ has been a reliable guide entry for years. Fortunately their recent spring clean didn't extinguish its identity. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Bear with us (particularly any excited Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช residents) as we write up the 18 new guide entrants over the coming days! โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘

Promising news about the threatened cult pub Dejvickรก Nadraลพka, Prague ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฟ that the station owners ฤŒD wanted to destroy and replace with a modern cafรฉ. Instead, an agreement has been reached that should see the current pub maintained! ๐Ÿ™ zdopravy.cz/dejvickou-na...

www.goloudplayer.com/radio/schedu... Thanks to RedFM @emerohea.bsky.social and for having me on the Neil Prenderville show today to talk about our weekend trip to Cork! ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช The interview can be heard using the link above, starts around 11.40am ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Last stop of the trip and it's The Oval, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช Though deserted right now, it's a great example of efforts to make a pub just-so for anyone that enters. Every candle burning, fire on. Going to be a sorrow to leave. Thanks for keeping track of our visits: write-ups coming soon! ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

Sin รฉ, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 2nd visit. Need to return when it's busier, but you can see for yourself the raw materials of the place. Rising Sons Cloud Break a decent session IPA. ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

Old Reliable Irish Pub, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 1st visit. Had a local tip off. Beamish a fraction of the cost and the best of the weekend. Service friendly to an outsider too. A local's hangout, however opened out and spoilt at some point. Photos are flattering. It won't go on the guide, but nonetheless, cheers ๐Ÿป

Dan Lowrey's, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 2nd visit. Not only because it's open (although that helps) but because it's one of the best. Sat in the little cabin bit at the back by the fire. Guy asked "the usual?" even though I have only been in twice. Superb. Shame to have to leave today๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

Yesterday's scores from Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 1st visit ๐Ÿ”น New Guide Entry โญ Dan Lowrey's 8.8๐Ÿ”นโญ Bierhaus 7.6๐Ÿ”นโญ Franciscan Well 7.4๐Ÿ”น Rising Sons 7.2๐Ÿ”น Coughlan's 7.8๐Ÿ”นโญ Fionbarra 7.5๐Ÿ”นโญ Arthur Mayne's 8.3๐Ÿ”นโญ The Blackman 8.2๐Ÿ”นโญ Abbey Tavern 7.7๐Ÿ”นโญ An Spailpin Fanach 7.9๐Ÿ”นโญ Castle 8.5๐Ÿ”นโญ

Battery ran out. We visited Abbey Tavern, An Spailpin Fanach and Castle Inn, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช All very lively for a Sunday. All good pubs. Castle an absolute classic. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

The Blackman, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 1st visit. A long shot that paid off. Eagle on a par 5. North edge of town but an absolutely lovely roadside pub with bags of character. ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

Coughlan's, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 1st visit. Met up with an old friend who works as a comedy compere here. Bar room less flashy that some others in town, but a good vibe from the staff and customers. A versatile place trying to cover bases for different people ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Franciscan Well Brewpub, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 1st visit. โ˜€๏ธ suddenly emerged, sat outside in a warm, admittedly heat assisted terrace. Part of Molson Coors these days, hack-spit. Outdoor area so much better than the big budget, but badly curated interior. Good range of drinks though ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

The Bierhaus, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 1st visit. Nice service, phenomenal beer selection, best of all their only keg of West Kerry Brewery (on our Top ๐Ÿ’ฏ) Carraig Dubh Porter, a symphony of straw dryness and rich honeyed molasses. No cask sadly.Grey is not a good colour for a pub or a bar - if destroyed still true ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Dan Lowrey's, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 1st visit. It opened! Truly lovely interior, wood panelling from walls to ceiling, stained glass, big Bass mirror, fine back bar. Loungey & social. Backroom looks cabinlike. 2 Franciscan Well lines. Chieftan IPA is a reliable one. Decent gins & whiskies. Superb๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Hmm, Dan Lowrey's, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช is shut despite advertised opening of Midday. Doesn't look like it'll be opening up in the next hour judging from the outside...

Ok, so here are the scores from Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช yesterday! One of the highest quality hauls in one day. 1st visit ๐Ÿ”น New Guide Entry โญ Hi-B 8.7๐Ÿ”นโญ Mutton Lane 7.9๐Ÿ”นโญ Sin รฉ 8.8๐Ÿ”นโญ The Oval 8.7๐Ÿ”นโญ Welcome Inn 8.5๐Ÿ”นโญ Maureens 8.6๐Ÿ”นโญ Abbots 8.7๐Ÿ”นโญ Corner House 7.6๐Ÿ”นโญ Callanan's 8.8 ๐Ÿ”นโญ Dennehy's 8.2๐Ÿ”นโญ

Dennehy's, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 1st visit. Last stop and yeah, this one is pretty damn good too. A come one, come all bar area with stone walled backroom, drinks choices are stripped back, no pretense. The newspaper cuttings local colour are quite something. ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘

Callanan's, Cork ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช 1st visit. Tough to photograph trad boozer with erratic opening times. Gloss painted wood strip interior. Little battlecruiser. Don't know how they do it but beer isn't just slightly cheaper here but over 15% less. They seemed smug about that. Tap is trad but you can buy Orval๐Ÿซต๐Ÿป
