I really love the writing of Fredrik Backman, just finished Britt-Marie was here, I absolutely loved it, probably equally with A Man named Ove. Beartown was also great, I must continue reading more of his books.

What a fantastic team to work for! www.linkedin.com/posts/govern...

Not often I really get into it, but this is an evening of trance music. Miss Monique is a genius DJ

It drives me mad that the noise in Google Meet for hand up is the same as the noise for someone put a message in the chat

Eat the frog! Life is better if you metaphorically eat the frog

Ugh just tried to watch beacon 23 on paramount+ (which comes with our sky subscription) and I see now I get ads shovelled at me. So far 95 seconds of ads with only 5 minutes of show. Absolutely positively not.

The parcel gods were kind to me.....which led to 9.5 hours of building my new system (original case and GFX card, but everything else is new). I've not set up the lighting so this is the default state of all the lights. Tomorrow I'll install win 11 and get gaming

Definitely have some fans in the house....I can hear them cheering me on already

I've been watching a lot of Poirot lately, I adore how he dresses, it has me wondering about Spats, do people still wear them? I can't recall seeing any, but a Google search shows me they are still available. When would one wear spats, when did they go out of fashion, why can't I dress like Poirot!

The Prince Charles - a West End institution - is under threat. Support them, unless you want to see another fucking M&M superstore where this beautiful cinema is. you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/sa...

Ooh new Minidisc day! Wolfclub - Canyons. What a great album, and I adore listening to stuff on Minidisc, highly underrated format. New Retro Wave do a fantastic job of the physical media. Also brings back my pleasure in repairing this tiny tiny minidisc player.

Today I did the unthinkable and wrote this comment......

The copy of A Canticle for Leibowitz I read was from the library, it came from "reserve stock" and I was shocked to find it was a 1959 first edition. They are worth a fortune (active sales > £1000), amazing I was able to borrow it for 50p! I told the librarian after I had scanned it in for return

Finished reading A Canticle for Leibowitz tonight. What a brilliant novel, the final section is quite harrowing but absolutely worth reading. I think this might be one of my favourite books.

Went to the bigger nearby library today. Had a lovely time browsing and came home with two surprise books. Also picked up a new tea cosy, so I've got a lovely pot of tea and a quick read to finish off.

After a recommendation from a colleague I ordered a book from the library, it had to come from the library reserve stock. Now it's arrived I'm scared of it, it's a 1959 edition of the book! It's got an old due date card in the front, it's absolutely full and goes back to 1983...

The model of train operating companies in the UK is such a joke. Train is cancelled while we are on it and kicks us all off at the next station, but we can't take the next train to the destination because Avanti needs to agree with WMR to accept the tickets and won't. The whole model is just broken

Using ITVX for the first time, I'm watching the Poirot episode of the novel I just read. The episode (at just a few minutes in) is quite different than the book, that's fine though....what's strange is the borders on ITVX. Why such a large black border on the bottom, very strange

Read a short story, it's funny how grief catches you unawares. Felt like being back in the ICU watching my mum's final minutes. The years pass but the grief remains

My Evercade Alpha arrived yesterday, I got chance to play on it last night, it's so nice! A nice size to have on a small table at the sofa and play, the arcade parts are top notch, and the built in games of the megaman edition are great!

Oh no, my KVM died! Oh well, I bought that when I had work laptops which didn't have Thunderbolt, so if my repair attempt over the weekend fails I guess I will buy a Thunderbolt hub and remove many cables from my setup

Absolutely loving the new Linkin Park album, after numerous listens I think Heavy is the Crown has to be my favourite track! youtu.be/ZAt8oxY0GQo?...

A while ago, I released "We Are Stardust". Physical editions included a #C64 game by Megastyle (awesome retro devs) with 8-bit versions of the album’s songs as the soundtrack. Here’s the game loading from glow-in-the-dark vinyl 👾 Audio noise = data, loaded in real-time. So proud we pulled this off!

I love bash, it fits so well into my mental model (lets not look deep into that 🤣), and bash makes it super powerful. When using shellcheck as a linter, and BATS (github.com/bats-core/ba...) for unit testing it's a DREAM!

I am loving Bluesky, but that "to the top" button in the bottom left of the screen is in such an annoying place. I keep pressing it when I'm scrolling down. Would be good if it didn't react if you were swiping, only if it's a simple tap....or just be somewhere else on the screen
