We go through a brain drain, and we'll backslide in our role and reputation in the world. I don't see it has anything to do with merit or truth, but censorship and strong-arming over ideology and power grabbing. This is no kind of greatness that I'd be proud of.

Hannah speaks truth in her letter! These are all public goods, shared benefits from collectively pooling time & tax dollars. Corporations aren't going to replace them. Any similar benefits allowed would instead be sold to whoever can/will pay. We all lose, just so billionaires get more money & power
