@frossrussell.bsky.social looks at the Eurovision Song Contest’s recent record of entrants to ask if things have improved for people of colour entering the Song Contest over the last five years. escinsight.com/2025/06/12/b...

And people wonder why some of us are a bit suspicious of the UK government floating the idea of new ID cards. It's because shit like this can all too easily happen when governments choose not to understand/abide by the legal restrictions on data gathering and storage.

Except for viewers in Scotland... Mind you, we have Bruce Fummey for that. youtube.com/@scotlandhis...

New release! “Hel: A Three-axis Obliterated Variable Font” heydonworks.com/article/hel-...

Yaay, its back!

Your reminder that Tim Davie is literally a Tory - he failed to get elected as a Tory in the 1993 and 1994 Hammersmith and Fulham London Borough Council elections. This is not 'the BBC'. This is the Tories who've been placed inside the BBC by, you guessed it, the Tories.

Uh oh, hosting Sanremo later than usual comes with the risk that it runs over and into Eurovision itself.

Showrunner Noah Hawley has stated that the style and mythology of this prequel series will be closer to that of the original Alien film than those of Prometheus or Alien: Covenant.

Having a think right now which books this might for me. 'Starship Troopers' is likely one, Joe Haldeman's "The Long Habit of Living" is another.

Quick questions, who's singing the Diss Track at next year's SUperbowl?

So, err, was I a week too early with this one on the socials?

I'm guesting on the latest Keep Watching Pod to go over TVs Taskmaster and complete our own tasks...(I am now going to write out 100 times "do not turn into Richard Herring").

Thought for the day... it's not much of an autodestruct sequence if all you damage is the front half of the saucer. All the important gubbis, engines, stores, etc are still intact. #StarTrek3

For sure I'll take Google Reader back, but I'll be thinking of Bloglines.

Wise words from Todd on audio podcasting. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rsos...

One to think about, the "popular vote" at Eurovision puts Poland's Justyna and Albania's Shkodra Elektronike onto the podium; yet the "constituency" vote of 37 countries (plus one for The Rest Of World) left them in fifth and seventh. One of many points in @escinsight.com estimated televote model.

This #PrideMonth....

I think the baffling decisions made with Doctor Who become a lot more tolerable the more 100+ chapter fanfics that clearly don't have a planned progression and suffer from writing burn out by chapter 40 you've read.

And it's going to have a cracking theme tune next season. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i2T...

This better not be a spoiler.

Another week, another Keep Watching Pod as we look back at episode four of the current series. Plus we're doing our own prize tasks - which is a lovely distraction from the world right now..

37 songs made it to Basel for Eurovision 2025. All of them have their own stories, from those who won the show, to those that stumbled in the Semi Finals. For those selected by the public in a National Final, what were some of the successes you might have missed?

I am so glad so many of the artists from Eurovision this year took advantage of the fact that people will have their eyes on them and have released singles and albums around and during the ESC season this year. Shoot even folks from last year were dropping albums in May.
