Trump and Vance would NEVER, EVER, talk to Putin like that. And everyone knows it.

Pithiest reaction that I read about Kendrick Lamar's halftime show was this: "If it wasn't for you, it was probably about you." I'm not sure that I completely agree, but it's a pretty pithy take.

The same people who were terrified that George Soros would be a shadow President for Obama or Hillary Clinton openly embrace Elon Musk doing the same in a Trump administration. Every accusation really is a confession.

Wow! THAT was a performance! Congratulations to Leeds! 7-0 over Cardiff. Incredible. #MOT

One of my favorite concerts of the school year. Our symphonic band and full orchestra. I get to come and just listen.

As much as I could comment on Trump’s response to the airliner crash, it pretty much speaks for itself… If you honestly believe it was appropriate, we have no business even having the conversation.

Not without controversy, Australia Day is like a combination of our 4th of July with our Columbus Day. Still, it's one of the two countries that I've called home, and I'll always have a soft spot for our mates down under. Happy Australia Day.

I paid precious little attention to the inauguration today. And that's the blueprint for the future. Be aware but be selective in what you engage. Save the energy for the battles that matter and ignore the juvenile antics from Trump or his supporters.

Bob Uecker nearly always made me laugh when I watched or heard him. He never made me want to cry until today. Rest in peace, sir. A life well lived. Baseball and the world is a lesser place without him in it.

Yep. What can you do? Stay engaged in your communities. The fine arts are a wonderful place to start. Art, literature, music, film. Expand your minds and don't give in to the garbage culture.

That's no fumble. His knee was down. #Vikings

As we watch the horrible fires in California, at the same time we watch the funeral of the man who gave us FEMA. President Carter was ahead of his time.

President Carter’s funeral was touching, funny, and I feel like we got to know both the President and the man a little better. May he rest in peace and may we remember him fondly. He gave us so much more than we give him credit for.

Blackburn and Leeds is really fun to watch.

Iowa State wins the Pop Tarts Bowl. That’s gotta be the best trophy presentation in sports.

Makes sense that he'd steal another person's line (Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder) He doesn't invent anything himself. He buys it or copies it.

Lions win! Only team in the NFL that's still undefeated on the road. And, the Commanders just did them a solid.

Nice to see such a dominant performance from Leeds today. Outstanding!

Why would a politician who cannot run again sue a newspaper over a poll? Why would a politician who cannot run again threaten media companies? Perhaps that politician thinks he CAN run again? Newsflash: He can't. All he's actually good at is campaigning. He sucks at actually doing the job.

Careful what you wish for, Iowa. You might just get it.

I don't care where you're from. Kentucky and Louisville going at it in men's basketball is always fun to watch. I work with a UK grad so he'll be happy on Monday.

It's just now that I noticed that Leeds managed to pull out a draw today. I had the game on but quit paying attention when it was a minute into stoppage time and left the room. I had no idea that they scored. Nice to see them pick up a point. It's better than nothing!

Went out to scrape my car. It's encased in a whole bunch of ice and the driveway is like a hockey rink. This was supposed to melt off by now. Yeah, no. Not happening. Not anytime soon anyway...

This Iowa-Iowa State basketball game has been really fun to watch. Seems like this game hardly ever disappoints!

I was saddened to learn of the death of former Congressman Jim Leach. He was my Congressman once. First a Republican, later a Democrat, his journey reflected my own. An incredible human being, you will never see a more accomplished Iowan than Congressman Leach was. I life well lived.

14 straight days on the radio. 250 contacts reaching 24 different countries.

First band concert of the year is in the books. Went about as well as I could expect for a first one. Nice group, nice crowd, and I cannot complain.

True.

There is no better way to commemorate Pearl Harbor Day on ham radio than to work a couple of ships from that war. I worked the USS Hornet on 12 meters and my home state's namesake, the USS Iowa, on 15 meters. Both of those ships actually fought in WWII and are now floating museums.

Yep. A lot of us here in Iowa predicted this would happen. We were told we were over-reacting; that loosening the laws would be common sense for some kids working until 10 p.m. at a fast food joint. Uh-huh... We weren't over-reacting. Not in the least.

So this week, we had martial law in Korea, a health insurance CEO was gunned down, and the French government is in disarray. Not to mention the drama with potential cabinet appointments. Whatever happened to a slow news week? Sheesh!

Iowa State vs Marquette on ESPN+. #5 vs #6. Should be a fun matchup, and you won't find many more electric places to play in CBB than Hilton Coliseum in Ames. Let's go!

When your sister brings you home a souvenir from the actual Richmond in England, it’s a cup of happiness.

Josh Dix with a logo 3 at the buzzer to help the Iowa men win their B1G opener vs Northwestern 80-79. Unreal.

Watching Iowa against Northwestern play basketball on Peacock. Iowa wearing their gold uniforms with the black numbers and script Iowa on the front. My favorite look. It could be any winter night in the mid 1980s.

The power of music.

I like a snowy game as much as the next guy but in this day and age, I don't understand why every northern outdoor NFL stadium doesn't have a heated field. College? Who cares. The NFL? For the money these players make and what it costs to get in, at least heat the playing surface. Rant over.

“This game is a war,” Day said earlier this week. Nope. It's not a war. Not even close. Not a real one anyway. It's a game. Coach with your head and not your emotions, and you probably win this game. 5 other teams figured out how to beat Michigan. You didn't. Why? Because you thought it was a war.

Enjoying the Taylor Sheridan series Lioness. I don't think I've ever enjoyed anyone's shows more where the main characters rubbed me the wrong way than what Taylor Sheridan has produced. They're not bad people, just complicated. It's not binary. That's a sign of great writing.

Instead of playing the game, perhaps the football teams can try to plant the flag at midfield of the opposing stadium and that would decide the game. Call it foot-brawl. Yes, this is sarcasm. If you won, act like you've been here before. Take the W and leave. If you lost, grow up. That's life.

I’ve been watching Iowa State play football for nearly 50 years. Went to my first ISU game in 1976. I’ve never seen them get 10 wins in a season until tonight, and nobody else has either. Congratulations to the Cyclones!
