We've started a social discord server for people who still care about Covid in the Edinburgh area! This is part of our ongoing work to offer community for those left alone by the denial of the ongoing pandemic - it's both for talking about covid and also sharing anything else with people who get it

Public Health will be hosting a virtual townhall on long COVID this Thursday, April 16th at 6:30pm. Experts and community partners will be answering questions on the long-terms effects of COVID-19 and cover related topics including care options. Submit your questions in advance:

It is essential for the rule of law that everyone involved in this end up in prison. Nothing else is a sufficient deterrent against the intentional, repeated abuse of government power to systematically deny fundamental rights.

I've got someone in my long COVID group who was in an accident today that totaled her car. She and her young son were both injured. She was recently hospitalized. She's young but needs help with incontinence supplies and basics now. Please DM if you can help. Thanks.

It's long past time to ban insider trading in Congress.

Australia is not real. The new black Trident FFP3 mask. This Australian-designed, Australian-made mask is available in the UK. But not in Australia. I can't see a good reason for this. Perhaps Australia is an elaborate hoax.🧵 #evermasking #SaltingTheVibes

It has now been 46 days since the BCCDC's most recent GISAID sample was collected (2/22). There has been no explanation as to why they have ceased GISAID uploads. Without them, volunteers -- not just myself -- can't analyze variants' prevalence, keep track of mutations, etc.

"Light" Long Covid. Still not disabled but hurt. Still functional but with "some" issues. "I'm getting older" (from people in their 30s and 40s). "I'm feeling tired nowadays". "I have migraines", and a panoply of ailments of all sorts.

What if COVID doesn't just make sick, but makes us easier to infect? Experts say the virus is chipping away at our immune systems. But some aren’t convinced. I spoke with doctors, scientists, and parents caught in a relentless cycle of illness, and here's what I found:

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) global prevalence is likely 71.2 million, not the underestimated figure generally used. CDC & KFF data suggest it’s closer to double that. We must fix these numbers to support better care & recognition. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

Catching up on a few things I haven’t had a chance to clip yet — did you know Poilievre, speaking in French, called UNWRA terrorists and said he’d stop giving any funding to them???? Absolutely horrifying position given UNWRA’s integral role in providing humanitarian aid to the region.
