A brain damaging virus on the loose and everyone acts like it’s nothing. It’s almost like there’s a brain damaging virus on the loose. #CovidIsntOver #CovidIsAirborne #WearAnN95

I agree that Doctor Who needs to return to its core values: * Black and white * 25-minute episodes * Loathed by the moral right * Broadcast the day after the assassination of the US president * Two companions, no more no less I also have opinions about the state of British sofas.

I agree with this. I will also add that usually well-informed non-academic progressive voters I talk to have absolutely no idea what is going on in higher education and research and the long-term repercussions+

Gonna join the chorus of those saying that the whole "tanks in Minneapolis" thing will prove to be a catastrophic strategic blunder on the regime's part

Thread. Mpls.

The fact that a professional wrestling promoter is the Secretary of Education ... it really says everything.

Raise your hand if you’re not even a meteorologist and you still know there’s a hurricane season.

"arresting people who showed asylum paperwork" can we habeus some fucking corpuses please? Does the country have rule of law, or not?

NOAA doesn't know the name of the Gulf of Mexico, but let's be fair: their boss doesn't know there's a hurricane season. Knowing things is against current policy.

"Who cares if he really fucked a goat! Just get him on record denying it!"

I confess I hesitate to wear a "you are safe with me" button because you decide, not me, if you think you're safe. I'll display colors, and then you make your decisions based on how I act. But I don't want to assert that decision for you.

Always keep in mind that the next one might spread like covid but kill like ebola.

It has always struck me how silent free-market fans are about things like this. Even the antitrump conservatives. This is the dialogue we would be having if shitler didn't exist. The people who insist free markets should solve this are silent on why they don't. You need more Econ than just 101.

"Unless people are willing to admit that, yes, to some degree, they did vote for this, and that was an error, then they’re not rejecting fascism. They’re just saying they want a less messy, more efficient fascism that doesn’t harm them personally."

If you want to astound a younger American today, tell them that thirty years ago there was actually a years-long investigation into a president's personal business dealings and, even better, it centered on a real estate venture where he *lost* money.

Given that I’m still seeing posts from people who don’t understand economics trying to convince me that I’m poorer than I was before, I have to wonder if we’re underestimating crypto’s effect on the 2024 elections and its role in convincing people inflation is worse than a recession.

People say we don't "deserve" dogs, but we invented dogs. That'd be like saying we don't deserve the internet. Ok I'm hearing it now. My bad. Never mind

Don’t print lies in the newspaper Don’t keep hosting the far right authoritarians who engage in serial performative lying on your TV shows Don’t keep asking “Is the sun going to rise in the east?” when you can simply look outside & observe the direction of the sunrise What is journalism, anyway?
