It was cloudy and cool on the hike to the waterfall at the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve today.The sun came out on the way back, and so did the butterflies. Saw plenty of Powell’s Admirals (right). Also saw a bumper crop of poison oak, so if you visit, stay on the trails. #sandiegoweather #CAwx

Location, location, location: The quake at 10:08 this morning west of Julian and east of Ramona was definitely the biggest we’ve felt at our North County home in our 22 years here. But the epicenter is probably the closest of any quake we’ve felt. Revised magnitude is now 5.2. #quake
