All of these, I'm specificly picking the covers of the books I remember, the ones that give me a visceral memory of what I felt when I read them, the smell of the book... Except Black Ships where the John Jude Palencar cover gives me goosebumps more the the original.

Just realised there are going to be a couple of glaring omissions from TWO (maybe three) different authors on this list. Anne Maccaffrey had a couple of weird takes about gay people but I'm all about judging a book by the standards of its time and I think she was genuinely trying to be supportive.
